Free water at resorts

Quick question. Is it okay to fill up a small waterbottle with water from the resort food court or do you have to use kne of their cups/refillable mugs? I noticed it didn't actually scan my mug when I got water for bed last night.

I'm beginning to wonder if we should just bring one of those filter bottles rather than buying 2 cases of bottled water to bring with us...

That's a great idea. With a filter bottle, you can fill up with free water anywhere, any time. (Also, if you're flying down, they're nice to have on the plane, since you can fill them up after passing through security and forgo the airport price-gouging for bottled water.)

(As for me, I drink the free Disney iced water, straight, no filter. I'm hard-core like that.) ;)

I love the bobble water bottle. It filters through the drinking cap, which makes filling the bottle super easy.

Done this, doesn't help with taste much. Tried the Britta ones.

I'll pay the $2.50 Dasani for the convenience of not carrying around a water bottle.

But I've never seen the water police out in force, so i'm sure whatever creative ways you need to come up with for free water is fine.

Bear in mind, if you are driving, or having groceries delivered, or picking them up with a stop using a car service, a case of water is at most $4.

We always get at least one and each take two or three bottles (depending on season) into the parks with us

I did fill up my own bottles with water from the resort food court without any issues. My guess is they don't care much because it is no different then going up and asking them for a cup for ice water.

Also got free ice water in the parks from the quick service places and just poured them in my bottle to avoid having to carry the paper cup around. These had no taste, so my guess is they are already filtered in their machines. A lot of you say you don't want to lug around water bottles, but honestly, a bottle of water is not that heavy at all.

We fill our mugs with ice and let it melt. But, my Mom has a scooter with a basket, so we're able to "store" our mugs there.;) Then we just go into QS restaurants and ask for ice water to fill the mugs back up.;)

Has anyone else noticed that the tap water isn't as gross as it's been in previous years? Usually my daughter and I dread even brushing our teeth down there it's so bad. Didn't notice a bad taste all week down there a few weeks ago.

Weird question but does the bottled water taste funny too? We are used to English water and taste the difference everywhere. Sorry reason to ask, the Caribbean bottled water was disgusting and I cant drink the flavour options to add due to being allergic to artificial sweeteners.

What about the water fountains? Are they tap or filtered? And are they even cold now. Mom remembers back in 2000 that the fountains weren't even putting out chilled water. I was there in 2009 but I can't remember.

I mistakenly drank from one a few weeks ago at a bus stop at POR. I thought it would be safe since the room water was better than it's ever been...it was not...still gross.
