Free Dining

I just booked my trip for Oct. The free dining offered (QS) was for All-Star Music only. Not my favorite resort. I would rather have booked Pop but it was not part of the deal. I would have upgraded to FQ but that was not part of the free dining either.

But the deal was so good we booked it. We got a great deal on airfare. This is probably the cheapest trip yet and we are staying an extra day.

In the past we've stayed in a few resorts that weren't my cup of tea and All Star Sports was one of them. It was only for 2 nights. But the kids and their cousins loved it. The reality check for me was it's Disney after all. :joyfull:. Have a great time!

I stayed at Music before and loved it. We were in the broadway building and it was so nice and peaceful. There is another smaller pool back there with not many people. I really enjoyed walking every day from the chaos of the foodcourt and pool to our nice little haven in the back.

I just read on another post that Pop was sold out rather than not part of the deal. I'm not sure which is true. I'm leaning at sold out. My travel agent was on the phone Monday morning as soon as we found out about the deal. She was on hold for three hours. We were emailing back and forth. She started with Pop, went to Movies and when she booked it we ended up with Music.

Well, yes and no. For our family for at a mod, a room discount saves us roughly $300 on the week (20%), deluxe appr. $700 (30%). Value not even worth it. Now free dining....4 adults at $60 per day (kids are 11/13), $240 per day times 7 days is $1680 (we're actually there for 9, just estimating). Clearly, it's the best deal FOR US.

Now, before the lectures begin, I will never BUY the DDP. We pay OOP (see my previous posts supporting this and why), never feel like we're missing out, and usually spend about $1100 on food, including a few TS locations. Even still, if I can get that for free???? And I'm going anyway? Buying PH tickets anyway? This is by far, going to be the least expensive trip in awhile.

Everyone's situations are different, that's why it is SO important to crunch numbers.

I didn't say Free Dining blows my mind, I said the rush for it does.

That said, I do DLX every time, and I really can't imagine a trip without it.

Not releasing early to Visa card holders was not cool. :bored: Yes, I am still sulking. Even holding my reservation confirmation number. :cautious:
Not to sound tart, but I really prefer my 2 snacks and three QS/TS meals per day to the mad rush to get "free dining" and then the further rush to use it for dinner services...

Even if I pay for it. And I do...pay for it.

I hear ya.....we don't BUY the DDP anymore, much less fish for the "Free Dining". I must say DDP DID expose my tribe to the great TS options available. Without that exposure we would never look forward to ressies as being park of our overall experience.
The only reason I make ADRs is because if you don't, many venues will be closed to you.

I don't like it at all.

I will note, as many have, before the DP, restaurants actually allowed walkups.

I've had more than one time when I've been turned away where I've literally walked outside, called 407-WDW-DINE, made a ressie, and walked right back in.

That...is stupid.

I hear ya times 2!! We still have at least 1 TS ADR per day of each trip; just OOP. CAn't imagine a visit to the Magic without!
I don't want to be an "old griper" but I remember when they just said "you have a wait".

To some extent, I get why the appointment system is preferable to many, but the fact that venues, for lack of a better term, "sell out" annoys just the same.
