Hi all,

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were re the dining plan. There is an offer just now with two weeks free dining plan for any stay in 2017 and saves about £1,000. Has anyone had experience of it before if so it would be great to hear your views as seems to be a great offer especially when all snacks and meals carry across into any days.

This has been discussed a lot in the past, so search the forums for plenty of advice.

Things to keep in mind:

It's a discount on dining, but not really "free" because you don't get the typical room discount.

It's a lot of food. Free dining is nice, but you have to consider how much you would eat and spend on food without it. If you got a room discount instead, and only ate at a few table service places, would you be better off?

It's possible to struggle to use all the credits, especially if you eat outside of the WDW resort at all.

I've enjoyed the offer because you get to eat wherever you want without worrying about cost. I'd never eat a table service meal every single day when paying out of pocket, but the free dining is a great opportunity to indulge.

Thanks Wendy, great info, really appreciated.

I've looked around lots of pricing and the 2017 offers direct from WDW seem to beat everything. You get 14 days comp dining, free refill mug, 14 day ticket for price of 7, free memory maker, free transfers on dme, 200 gift voucher and at price way lower than any where else I can find. The dining means done even need to think about food and the 14 day ticket for 7 works out so reasonsonable. About $30 a day for six parks and hopper

It beats any discounted room offers I can find

Hi and Welcome Aboard to a fellow Brit.

We did the DP on our August visit last year - it was also free. The main thing to consider is "you have to eat" so why pay for it ? The type of plan you get will (or did) depend on the level of accommodation you get. We stayed in a Deluxe and got the standard plan, if you stayed in a Moderate you got the Quick Service plan.
It's up to you how you use your credits - you get enough for each day of your visit but don't have to use them daily and you don't lose any if you don't use them - until you go home (stock up by using any unused snack credits before flying home).
As for park tickets - there is no point getting a 7 day for a 14 day stay !! You'll probably find that the 7 day is way overpriced so you do get 14 for the pice of 7. The Hopper option is also really useful and allows you to make the most of your days in the parks and the UK tickets include access to the water parks as well

Thanks, really appreciate the info, I really like the thought of tickets and dining plan all sorted in advance. The offer seems really good and only requires a small deposit at this stage. Did you have a great trip? Was it for 14 days?

Yes, all our trips have been for 14 days - except Christmas 08 when we stayed for 10.
You really can't beat the UK "all inclusive" tickets - and the price is usually pretty competitive as well. Do not assume that your package company has the cheapest tickets - its as well to compare the prices before booking.
The trip was good but marred by several isolated incidents.
