FP+ and Rider Swap - Advanced Version

Planning this out with 5 adults, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old is making my head spin. The 1 year old doesn't have a ticket and can't ride any height restricted rides, so I don't have to worry about him. That also means I can get a ride swap on any ride.

This is my thinking for MK. Haven't even gotten to the other parks yet.

On the 6 people with tickets (5 adults and 1 child), I'll call them A, B, C, D, E, and F. The child is F and can ride 7DMT but not any of the other mountains.

Can I then do this and have it work with no issues from cast members?

7DMT - A and F get fast passes and ask for rider swap with 1 year old. B, C, D can ride via rider swap later (E is the only one that misses out).

Splash - B and C get fast passes and ask for rider swap. A, D, E can ride later via rider swap.

Space - D and E get fast passes and ask for rider swap. A, B, C can ride later via rider swap.

BTMR - A and F get fast passes and ask for rider swap with 1 year old (E actually uses F's fast pass via magic band swap since F is too short). B, C, D can ride via rider swap later.

This would get 6 riders on all 4 of the roller coasters without using standby and only 2 of the 6 tickets have used 2 fast passes, while the others have used just 1.

If desired, we could double up on the same rides for even more turns or group up for other non-rider swap rides with the remaining fast passes.

Am I thinking of this right?

Also, this is probably a bit out there, but since we have 2 kids that are too short for Splash, Space, and BTMR, could we have the two people with fast passes actually walk up separately and each get a rider swap themselves? For example, in my above example for Splash, B walks up first, gets a rider swap with one kid, and then a couple minutes later, C walks up and gets a rider swap with the second kid. That would then give two rider swap tokens for 6 additional rides later, however we want to divvy them up.

While that probably works, it seems like a headache to manage and a bit scammy.

We're going as an 8 (4 adults, 3 kids tall enough for most rides an 1 too short for most). I don't want to scam the system but I want to make the most of my days so if I can get extra ride time (legitimately) using RS then I'll use it.

Am I right in thinking only the first person/people going up need a FP+ to get rider switch which can then be used by others who don't have FP+?

That's the way it's supposed to work. But isolated reports have been saying that the entire party, including the people waiting, need to have a fastpass. To avoid that, might be best to avoid having all non riders without a fastpass avoid going up with the party asking for rider swap.

There may be policy changes on that coming this year. We'll see.

As it currently works, when you ask for rider swap, you are given a paper FastPass that allows up to three (3) guests to enter through the FastPass line (without ussing a pre-booked FP+). As such, you would need (at least) one person to enter either through the stand-by line or using a FastPass+ per every three that would return later to use the rider switch pass.

When we went in August, we did have situations where my son and I booked a FP for TestTrack and my wife and daughter booked a FP for Soarin. We were each with the other when we got to the start of the queue and asked for the rider swap passes allowing my son and I to use our Test Track fast passes, get off the ride, immediately let my wife and daughter use their rider swap, then headed over to Soarin to do essentially exactly the same with my wife and daughter going first.

It should also be noted that Disney has a policy that no child under the age of seven can ride unaccompanied (unaccompanied meaning the adult must be sitting in either in the same row or the row behind them), so depending on the age of your kids, you may need to take this into consideration when determining your groups to ride.

That’s great thanks

With the switch to digital rider swap, is this still the case? Can I still make the same plans splitting up the fastpasses? Or does everyone need a fastpass now?

Not everyone needs a FP. Although it may be on certain rides (FoP, 7dmt) they might insist on it.

However, you are now given a specific return slot of one hour, starting when the first group get in line. Or, where the line itself takes longer, like FoP, from when they are expected to actually ride.

If using it without FP, the return time will start after the posted wait time.

No more choosing when you come back and ride.
