NEW YORK (SportsTicker)--News Corp.'s (NWS) Fox Sports and the Bowl Championship Series announced Monday that they have reached an agreement to make the network the new home of the series starting in 2007.

Financial terms were not disclosed for the deal, which includes the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, FedEx Orange Bowl and the Nokia Sugar Bowl from 2007 through 2010 and a new stand-alone BCS National Championship game from 2007 through 2009.

ABC, which has held the rights to the BCS since its inception in 1998, still holds the rights to the Rose Bowl and the national title game when held there until 2014. ABC, a unit of the Walt Disney Co. (DIS) withdrew from negotiations with the BCS last week, reportedly unhappy with the new format and the added fifth game.

"We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with Fox Sports," Big 12 Commissioner and BCS Coordinator Kevin Weiberg said. "We very much look forward to the creative energy that the Fox team will bring to the Bowl Championship Series."

Hard to believe it's going to Fox. Our local Fox station doesn't have quality as good as our ABC station does, but it's not that big of a deal I guess. Ever since '98 ABC and the BCS have sort of been linked together. Of course I'll never forget that 1998 season as long as I live ;).

I don't know about the ratings ABC got for the games, but the controversy of the BCS seems to generate more coverage nationwide and you would think that the ratings would continue to go up.
