is the finale of the fourth of july fireworks at the magic kingdom similar to that of new years in that the fireworks are shot off from all around the park in a "circlevision" style?

Yes! Those are called Perimeter Fireworks. They are actually set off all around the park. I even think someone said they set some off even outside the park itself to have a better effect. They are the best fireworks ever. Never have gotten to see them from Magic Kingdom. I always had to work that day and would always rush over to the Poly with friends to watch from the beach. From there it always looked as if Main Street was on fire!:lookaroun Those were good times. Wish I were there this year!

They are ALL launched outside of the park. I am speaking about the perimeter fireworks, of course.

I just got back from seeing the Magic Kingdom July 4th show a few minutes ago and if you can get a chance to see it, run don't walk.

I watched them from the Polynesian instead of in the park and it was the best decision I could have made. The entire show that is launched from behind the castle is duplicated from the large island in the center of Seven Seas Lagoon. In addition, the barges from the electrical water pageant are brought out across in front of the Poly and play the music from the show and display the finale segment of american flags and stars throughout the length of the show.

When you combine all of that with 180 and then full 360 perimeters it was absolutely amazing in every way. I don't know what it would be like inside the park, but I can't imagine it being better than sitting in the grass on the hill and watching that show.
