Fort Wilderness Campground Secrets?

I have been to Fort Wilderness 5 times now, but I am sure there are things that I do not know about or have taken the time to see. My girlfriend and I are going in May and I am looking for some interesting things to check out around the campground. Does anyone know of some interesting stuff there?

Well if you haven't looked for it, I would suggest going and finding the lawn mower tree (its about halfway between Pioneer Hall and the Boat Dock). Story goes that someone left a mower there and the tree grew up around it. No idea if its true though.

You also might be interested in one of the nature trails that not many people travel (probably cause they don't know about it). It starts right behind the main general store on the right hand side and can take you a bit into the forest behind Bay lake.

You probably already know this, but at one time Ft. Wilderness had a railroad and some of the tracks are still around. If you're feeling adventurous you can go explore the campground and see if you find some of the old rails. I know there used to be some by one of the playgrounds but that was quite a few years ago.

That's all the info I can think of right now.

The lawnmower tree was recently removed. I believe some of it is still there but it had been damaged and needed to be removed.

edit: Here is what remains.

Unfortunately the Railroad was way before my time so I didn't ever get to see that. But I have heard that there is a section of track somewhere near the 1500 loop. And yes I have seen the lawnmower tree. It took me a minute to figure out what the sign on the tree was saying. It says something about a Slow mower and a fast grower. Then I looked down and went, "Oh..."

Ya that is how it was when we were there earlier this month. Unfortunately we weren't there long enough, so were going back for longer.

i don't have any secrets, but if you're looking for quick service meal one day that you're hanging around the campgrounds, hop on the boat and go to the wilderness lodge, we ate lunch there on our trip to the campgrounds and it was good. then we explored the resort.
