Fort Wilderness Cabins

My family is planning to go to WDW in December. We would like to stay in a cabin, if possible. There will be six of us...myself and my wife, our 4-year-old and 1 1/2 year old and my parents. Can someone who has stayed in the cabins please give us your honest opinion of them? Please tell us about the standard features, housekeeping, etc.

Thank you very much!

We've stayed there a lot. We prefer the cabins compared to a regular hotel. Reasons:

It's more personal....it's just those in your party, the only way you hear your neighbors at all is if they are outside yelling.

It feels more like home. You have a living room (there is a murphy bed in there) with a couch and tv. A kitchen! Which is AWESOME for Christmas if you want to eat home cooked meals for the holidays. Then a bathroom. And a back bedroom with bunk beds and a queen size bed. We usually have about 6 people in the cabin, and it's perfect for it. I would suggest the cabins for a party like you.

To learn a lil bit more about the cabins....go here:

The cabins are my favorite. They have a double bed and a bunk bed in the back bedroom and a Murphy bed in the living room. First I recommend renting a golf cart from the bike barn you can call Disney reservation to get the # to the bike barn. The golf cart will make getting around the campground easier as the campground is spread out. You can get to the Magic Kingdom by boat or by bus.The boat is a nice quite ride over to the Magic Kingdom and it does make a stop at the Wilderness Lodge to and from the Magic Kingdom. And you can get to the rest of the theme parks by bus. There is a sing a long with chip and dale and a campfire at night behind the meadows trading post after the sing a long they show a Disney movie. Hope this helps

I stayed at the cabins once and found it quite peaceful. The cabins allow you to get away from the normal hotel atmosphere (though there is nothing wrong with Disney Resort atmosphere). They are isolated in the woods and give you the feeling like your camping. The cabins themselves seemed smaller than the typical Disney room but do include all the ammenities (kitchen, small living room, etc.). Plus the golf carts are available if you want to tour around the rest of the campground. Its also a short walk to the bus depot which takes you to pioneer hall where you can see the Hoop-Dee-Doo Muscial Revue (don't miss this). You can also rent boats at the marina or take the ferry to the Magic Kingdom.
