Fort Wilderness cabins amenities

I was looking at the FW Cabins and had questions if anyone had stayed there recently.

It appears in the refurbishment that the stove was taken out and replaced by a 2 burner top and a convection microwave. Can you bake in that thing?

It appears the murphy beds were removed, I assume the sofa is a sleeper?

I have never stayed at FW. If you have a cabin are you permitted to drive your car and park in front of the unit? If so is it hard to get through there to your destinations? I assume you cannot drive to the boat to MK and park your car there, or can you?

Thanks for any answers and if I am missing anything any information will be appreciated!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
They are still currently refurbishing all the cabins but some in 2 of the loops are already complete. The others should be done soon in the last 2 loops.
You can drive up and park at your cabin I do know that answer but cannot answer about the stove/oven issue. :)

We stay at FW every time we go to Disney. Hopefully I can answer your questions. Yes, you can bake in the convection oven. It just switches from the microwave to oven...there are directions on the unit that are very self explanatory. We used it a few times.

Yes, they did remove the Murphy Bed and I believe the sofa converts to a bed. There is a little sign nearby that tells you where the linens are kept for the bed. Don't know if it's comfortable or not. They didn't change anything in the bedrooms..so you still have a bed & 2 bunk beds. They replaced the Murphy Bed with a set of drawers - which comes in handy.

Yes, you drive your car to the front of your unit. If you check-in at the desk you are given a map as to where your cabin is. Finding where you are located is very easy. If you don't rent a golf cart (if you do make it in advance) you can take their internal transportation buses to the front of FW where you can pick-up buses for everywhere. The other direction is towards the water & you can take a boat to the MK which is very nice. We've never had issues with wait times for any of the buses but we do get a golf cart.

We were just there is Dec. and were told "everything" will be done by April. Since we've actually had decent weather so far this year, they probably will be. From out last trip loops 2300, 2400, 2600 were done. There was also another loop done (can't remember which one) and they had begun on another.

We are returning in March and I will try and post pictures of the new interiors.

Thanks for the details, that is very helpful.

I think you're correct, that you can't drive your car to the Marina. If you rent a golf cart (which comes in very handy) you can park very close to the main bus station (to take you to all parks but MK), and you can park pretty close to the marina (closer than the marina bus stop I think).

To piggyback on the question regarding the ovens... how large are the new convection ovens? Could I bake a full-size DiGiorno pizza in there?

I'm trying to remember the size of the oven....I think you could cook a full size pizza. Maybe not a "hugh" one but a decent size. They are bigger than an over the range microwave and countertop. Great link to the FW campgrounds. Unfortunately, the pictures of the inside cabins isn't close. Where the Murphy bed is are now the drawers and they all have stainless steel appliances. A few more weeks and I'll have pictures.
