FYI - IMPORTANT

Those of you driving to WDW using I75 and the Florida Turnpike are going to run into a delay near Clermont. There was an accident involving a pickup truck and a semi early Monday morning. The accident was under a bridge of the turnpike just past the Highway 27 exit. The truck caught fire. The fire damaged the bridge of the turnpike on the northbound lanes.
Currently the northbound lanes of the turnpike are totally closed. They plan on routing one lane of northbound traffic using one of the southbound lanes of the turnpike as soon as the can get the cut through the median area finished. This will continue for the next month as they replace the bridge on the northbound side of the turnpike.
This will cause a definite slowdown going through the area as there will be only one lane going each direction.
You can get off on Highway 27 and use Highway 50 to avoid the area, but be aware that the traffic on Highway 50 is very heavy at this time. I took this route going north on Monday. What would normally have taken 15 minutes to drive took nearly an hour.
Also, there is construction at the exit of the turnpike onto the 429.
So, if you are driving give yourself some extra time. It will be a slow go for awhile.
