For the BK Dreamers

I'm looking to see if there are any believers in the Beastly Kingdom concept.

People come out of the woodwork and talk about this mysterious "Forbidden Mountain" and talk about how Beastly Kingdom is dead. And it really angers me.

I know that there are many disappointments in the arena of Disney attractions. Many of the best advertised concepts (Western River Expedition, Discovery Bay, etc.) have become dead, never to arise again unless in some other form.

But why are we taking the word from random post-ers on the internet of a concept's death? Where is the press release that states it's dead?

BK, in my opinion, isn't dead. It isn't alive either. I think it is a comma state, waiting untill Esiner leaves and some new CEO looks at WDI and asks "What do you have?"

Very true! I don't know if any of you guys know this but the same thing happened with Splash! It was shelved for a while and when Eisner came on board he asked WDI what they had and they showed him Splash Mountain. It was then quickly approved and was under construction in less than a year. Let's hope Eisner leaves and a new CEO takes his place!

Here's the thing....

BK still exists as a concept. It's a great idea that everybody would like to see as a reality

However, it requires much more capital than just adding a ride. You can't have a land with just one ride or item in it. There will be character locations, photo ops, scenery props, shops, restaurants, etc. This requires a lot of planning, ground prep, and you will probably have to find a way to add utilities to the site. Not only do you have to build all of these items, but you also have to maintain and staff them. This costs significantly more than adding one new E-ticket attraction.

Until Disney allocates enough funds, time, and resources to this project, we will never see BK at AK.

I'd rather them take their time with a new land, as torturous as it may be b/c we don't want another Mickey's Birthday Land...er Mickey's Star Land...er Mickey's Toontown Fair fiasco thing.

Personally I would rather they worked on opening an Australia section. Mythical creatures are all well and good, but Australia has some of the funkiest creatures on the planet. I think a lot could be done with it.

TTFN!

i think we all have to wait till eisners out to see allot more be done. eisner is not a entertainer, he is a money man, a financier, and it's in that he excels, when frank wells was alive in the 80's is when alot of concepts came out eisner kept those concepts from frank but then started manageing his way, with money, not ideas.

I dont think you will ever see a press release saying that a rumor is dead! Disney do not acknoledge rumors, and certainly wouldnt issue a press release about one. :)

Where is the press release stating that it was ever going to happen?

Where are the press releases stating the Western River, Discovery Bay, Tomorrowland 2055, Maroon Studios, Africa Pavilion, concepts were dead?

I know this is completely off topic, but does anyone know where I can read up on things like tomorrowland 2055 and maroon studios?

I would like to see what the rumors entailed ...

Some people bash Eisner for not going ahead with the "proposed" Beastly Kingdom, and say he should step aside, he's lost his touch, blah, blah, blah. Although some people seem to think he never had a touch.

Well, if Eisner wasn't in charge we wouldn't even have Animal Kingdom. Therefore, no wishing for more areas added to Animal Kingdom. And if Eisner wasn't in charge we wouldn't have the Disney-MGM studios.

Then what would the people complain about? I'd guess that they want more things added.....hmmm....Eisner added two whole parks and more resorts (so far), and people still complain about him.

How soon we forget what shape Walt Disney World was in when Eisner took over.

Sorry to rant here, but I've been reading posts for a while and have held my comments on the Eisner-bashing and disgruntlement.

In the book "Since the World Began", they acknowledged perfectly that a mythical land full of mythical creatures would arise. Thats where all the concept art was shown. Its not a press release, but it certainly was released as an official book and under the Hyperion umbrella.

Wasn't the park's plans shown to people long before it ever broke ground where they discussed this?
Is there not a Unicorn Parking lot or a Dragon ticket booth or carvings of mythical creatures at the entrance to DAK? I think it speaks for itself.

that still is not a press release. I have access to Disney press releases (as many of you have seen me post them), and not one mentions anything about a Beastly Kingdom (including every different spelling you could think of) or anything new at AK other than Hester and Chesters. Face it, for the time being, the rumor is dead.

I feel the rumor is completely dead right now because I have stated before in other threads in the One Man's Dream exhibit at the thing talking about Animal Kingdom developement, it has the logo WITHOUT THE DRAGON!!!

And that is the most recent thing with the logo that has been released.

Uh Oh.... looks like someone thinks it isn't happening anytime soon.

Dragon Slain? Only time will tell...

I just wanted to point out that many failed concepts that are for one specific park, area, etc. have the ability to pop back up in other areas of Disney. Forbidden Mountain seems to be simply the "mountian outside the Magic Kingdom" design that was originally meant for Epcot upon its opening (at the time known as Mt. Fuji). Same goes for Journey to the Centre of the Earth as it was orignally rumored as being built behind Pirates in MK, only to be put in Tokyo DisneySea. Since WDI is finding its funds cut back every year, and it makes more sense for Disney to simply take from designs already in the works (also hense the copying of Tower of Terror, Rock'n'Rollercoaster and other Disney attractions around the world, but don't get me started on that...) in order to add to the existing lands, than to put the research and development money into something new.
I say this because BK may be dead as we now know it, as in the concept has been known now, but look farther down the line and it may resurface. For theme parks, there are 2 objectives for Disney now: create new interest in the parks and cost cutting. These are polar opposites, but they figure that Project Gemini and the reopening of Epcot is more worth their energy (and more of a sure thing) than trying to reshape animal kingdom to a concept that may or may not work.
I'm not discounting how much better AK would be with beastly kingdom, and as much as I'd love to see BK in the works, I'll settle for Forbidden Mt. and a new Epcot over it any day. Nevertheless, my take is to keep looking for aspects of BK to show up other places if its not going to be where we want it.
