Hello,
I am so excited to see Pandora land at AK in May and ride FOP but my sister who is coming with me isn't as good at riding some rides as me. She is fine on most rides but after losing her lunch on Harry potter forbidden journey at Universal I am a little worried how she will fair on FOP.
Is the ride very intense? Are there sick bags provided like at mission space? If not, would she be allowed to take her own on? How far are the toliets from the ride vehicles?
I have tried to talk her out of riding it but she is intent on trying it.
Any advice on how to make the experience go more smoothly would be appreciated.

Forbidden Journey is a very rough ride to handle. The advances in 3d technology and frame rates of the FOP attraction should be night and day. Forbidden Journey is a very aggressive ride vehicle, and quite the experiment in technology that paid off dividendes but motion sickness is is really common on it. Flight of passage is soarin version 2. Very smooth and is not that much of a vomit inducer.

As someone who suffers from motion sickness, I completely agree. I was fine on FOP but FJ really wrecked me during the major screen elements. Even Dramamine wasn't enough to stop the intense wave of nausea during those scenes. I can't even imagine what it must have been like when they offered the 3D goggles version at USH/USJ.

Soarin and FOP are completely different IMO. In Soarin you do not get the motion that you get on FOP. I wish people would stop comparing the 2. FOP is much more intense and all immersive. FOP is 3D with wind effects and rocking back and forth. It actually feels like you are dropping down and flying on the banshee. Soarin is just a screen, like watching a movie in an IMAX.

FOP is 3D with wind effects and rocking back and forth. It actually feels like you are dropping down and flying on the banshee. Soarin is just a screen, like watching a movie in an IMAX.

You can wish all you want but it is a very fair comparison.

Soarin is not 3D, you are not moving during the show, your seat is not "breathing", and you definitely do not feel as if your are actually dropping. All of which you experience in FOP. Soarin is an IMAX movie that has your seats up in the air. After that initial climb you do not move at all. You can not compare the 2 with regards to motion sickness.

Um, last I knew Soarin' does move, but not a lot. Not sure how far compared to FoP. So yes, they are somewhat similar. Both are very similar in that if you experience motion sickness sensations you can close your eyes and not feel anything. Maybe it's me, but I never felt like I was actually dropping on FoP either. It's a simulator though. Not much different than Soarin' or Star Tours really. Though much smoother than Star Tours at least.

As someone who gets motion sickness sometimes, that is actually the absolute worst thing for me to do. Keeping my eyes open and my head up and focusing on what is on front of me is what keeps me feeling better. If I ever do get car sick or motion sickness, the moment I look down, turn away or close my eyes - it immediately gets 1000x worse. The best thing is cool air constantly blowing on my face, cold water on my face and either chewing minty gum or ginger chews.

And luckily, I don't get sick on Flight of Passage or Mission Space or coasters! Which shocks me. If I spin the tea cups on the Mad Tea Party, there's a 50/50 chance I will feel like garbage for an hour after getting off. Hahaha

I guess I will just have to see what happens, thank you for the advice. Though i'm kind of considering wearing a poncho on the ride maybe some bags around my shoes too just in case.

As I've gotten older I've started to get really motion sick and honestly I consider FOP to be really intense for me personally just because of my motion sickness. If she has bad motion sickness it really might be a good idea to skip it. It's a really neat ride but it's not worth getting sick for.

moving seats while focusing on a giant projection. one is more motion... its a progression of the same ride system. They are absolutely comparable. You're getting really worked up over needing to be right here so I will pretend that you're correct if it will help you sleep better.

Book her fast pass, have her walk around and explore Pandora and you and use it, go 2x you will love it

I don't think FJ is a good comparison to FoP.
FoP is more comparable to The Simpsons Ride.....big IMAX screen, motion simulated vessel.

In my experience, FJ was more intense than FoP. I handled both but FJ left me feeling queasy all day. FoP didn't leave any lasting impact, but I did close my eyes 2/3rd's of the way through.

I couldn't agree more.

Yes, FoP and Soarin' both utilize IMAX, but Soarin' leverages heights with the feeling of being off the ground; while FoP leverages motion simulation with 3D 'in your face' effects.

Just make sure you are not adjacent to her on the ride.

So I can not express my opinion without it being "worked up"? Is that your go to when someone disagrees with your? I don't "need to be right", because I disagree with you. IMO the 2 rides are not comparable, but I will pretend that you are correct if it will help you sleep better.
