Food & Wine Fest questions...

I've never been to Epcot's Food & Wine Festival before, so I'm not quite sure what to expect. (I'm not interested in any of the classes or separate-ticket events)

*What's the best/worst nights to go?

*What are the crowds like-- both the park itself and the lines for the individual food booths?

*Can you expect to make a "meal" out of visiting 2 or 3 food booths? (Or does the average guest really just "sample", while planning to eat at a permanent park restaurant?)

*For beers and wines, what's the serving size/cost??

*Do many guests seem to get tipsy? Or does the cost/serving-size/wait-time-between-booths tend to prevent that?

Thanks for your help!!!

The price is normally 2-5 bucks for the food. There is no bad day to go really. The most croweded areas i normally see are the wine shows.

Each booth has about 3-6 different things you can try. Im not sure what countries will be set up this year though, but I believe its like 20-30 different booths.

My wife and I went last October for the first time and are going back this November.

Since we were staying at the Boardwalk Inn, we were able to pop in an out frequently. Over the week we were there, we never noticed any huge crowds. Biggests crowds seemed to be in the evening after 8 and before Illuminations. Never had to wait more than 3-4 people deep for anything.

You can easily make a meal out of sampling 2-3 booths worth of food, or get two of something if you find something you really like. It's easy to fill up quickly.

I'm going to guess the wines were all 2-3 oz pours. Prices started at $5-ish and worked their way up from there. All the beers we sampled were 12 oz and cost $4-$5. Every booth takes cash, credit cards, or resort room charges so you don't need to carry a lot of cash.

It is REALLY easy to get tipsy. You kinda hop from booth to booth taking samples. First day there, we stated at the internation pavilion and hit every booth one after another. We were already tipsy by the time we got to the Sam Admas beer history booth. We learned to pace ourselves better after that. You tend to replace alot of water for alcohol in your body as you walk around. So drink LOTS of water. Didn't notice any of the guests being a problem though.

The only really new variables this year is the Fairy Tale package and the openning of Mission:Space. But hard to say what that will do. Lot of mission space people could stop by the booths after the ride.

Ooooo spinning drunk people! got to love it!:hammer:

I was there last year for the food & Wine Festial w/ some friends.
I highly recommend comparing the price of a sample w/ the price of a bottle of said sample where available. At the Poland booth last year I paid $2.50 for a little cup of Cherry Wine my 2 friends bought a bottle for $8.50 a piece. I got back in line to buy my bottle, too (b/c it was the best wine and it is imported from Poland :slurp: ) and they were sold out of it. :( I did hear the lady at the register ask they guy that was serving say: "Are you sure that is the right price for the whole bottle?" and then he said. "Well, that's what the sign posted out front says." My friends and I split one of the bottles they had already bought with cups they had from other booths, so I still got to have more cherry wine and I think we spent less time and $ than we would have just buying other samples all night.

Speaking of the wine. Heres a challenge for ya during the festival. Get as close to being drunk as you can without being thrown out of the park.....then go ride MS. I dunno what the effects would be, I've never done it yet.

Went two years ago and am going again THIS year.:sohappy:

We Love sampling all the differant types of food.:slurp:

I hope the cheddar Cheese soup and the Beef Stroganoff are available this year.:slurp:

The only inebriated people I saw were concentrated around The Rose And Crown Pub.
I think they all tried the differant wines in all the countries and then went to The Rose and Crown to finish the job.

I was in the Mens bathroom near there doing my thing when a drunken female came running in to vomit in the sink. :hurl:

Quite an entertaining evening.:dazzle:
