Another question??? Our flight leaves to come home at 4pm we would like to go to DTD to pick up some earl of sandwich's before we leave to eat before we fly in wait room . We have ressies at 8:30 at Kona so we will not want to eat at 12. Before DME picks us up at 1pm.Can we do this or can we et them after we check in but not on the plane. I have heard they take away your food but at what point will they do this. ??? Thanks so much

If you purchase food and take it to the airport then its yours to with as you want. The only time that the airport staff will take food from you is when you enter a new country. We had to leave all fruit on the plance the last time we entered the USA - there will not be a problem on domestic flights

So after security then can you buy any water or drinks to take on with you to the wait area or is security in the waiting area so you can't leave again?

Ok now I think I have all my worries met. Thanks so much. I just thought we could eat them in the wait area before we fly out. It would be about 7 hours after we ate breakfast and would be ready by then. Then eat a good dinner somewhere in Dallas at 8-9pm after we land.

what about pasteries. We are planning on getting some pastries to bring on the plane (ones with cream inside) What happens at the airport. Will we have to throw them out

TSA rules say liquids can't be taken on board the aircraft. I have no idea whether cream filling in a pastry would be a problem.

I'm thinking it should be fine, but I honestly don't know if you'd get through security.

EDIT: Checked the TSA site:

Food

All food must go through the X-ray machine. Do NOT bring food to the security checkpoint unwrapped.

Food must be wrapped or in a container. Unpeeled natural foods like fruit are okay, but half-eaten fruits must be wrapped.
