What do you folks recommend? We will staying at BW PPI in late Feb 2012. We are not picky eaters - and are "value conscious". I have heard a couple of folks offer that other than the continental breakfast offered by the hotel, we should avoid Captain Kidd's. Are they really that bad (based on a recent visit)?

Looks like Mimi's and Millie's are nearby. We have never eaten at one of those, so your opinions would be appreciated. Denny's, one of our old stand-by's is also near. IHOP, unfortunately, will never get another dime of my business. Also, what about Tony Roma's?

Our taste tends to run towards "light" selections. We like grilled fish, chicken, soup and salad combos and fresh vegetables. I can't remember the last time I ate a burger out (we prefer our own ultra-lean we raise), but I have tested some grilled chicken sandwiches and grilled fish tacos.

Tony Roma's was "OK", standard chain family restaurant. I think the hotel gave me some kind of discount card for it.

I've never eaten at that particular Mimi's, but the Mimi's I have eaten at is very good. Charming atmosphere, good food, generous portions. Good selection of everything from soups and salads to full dinner options. They serve b'fast, lunch and dinner. Not as inexpensive as Denny's, but definitely better quality.

I strongly recommend the Mimi's Cafe. It's basiscally an upscale coffee shop themed to a French country cottage, the food is very good, the menu is varied and extensive, they have a basic cocktail menu in addition to wine and beer, and the atmosphere and service is good. http://www.mimiscafe.com/Restaurant.aspx?Id=56

Millie's, which is right across from Mimi's, is not that great. Basic greasy spoon coffee shop fare with uninspired service and atmosphere. There's also a Denny's and an IHOP, which are usually busy but offer the standard fare there.

Along Harbor Blvd. between Mimi's and the Disneyland entrance you'll also find a Quizno's sandwich shop, a big McDonald's, and a Coldstone Creamery ice cream place. Between those four offerings (Mimi's, McD's, Quiznos, Coldstone) I would think you could find anything to fit your budget, schedule or mood when you are coming from or going to Disneyland day or night.

Just stay away from Captain Kidd's! That place is absolutely horrible! Honestly, I would think the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce would just shut it down due to the harm it does to Anaheim's tourist industry.

A three block walk south of that Harbor Blvd. strip across from Disneyland is GardenWalk, a mall that has more restaurants than stores. It has a small food court upstairs by the movie theaters with the usual mall food court chains, plus a good Johnny Rocket's soda fountain. And then there are about a dozen sit-down restaurants at several price points in the mall. Most are big succesful chains you've probably heard of; P.F. Changs, Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Fire+Ice, etc. There's also a couple of upscale places that are very good there; McCormick & Schmicks Grill seafood, and Roy's Hawaiian Fusion. http://www.anaheimgardenwalk.com/

Thanks for the warning!

That is basically the advice I gleaned from the reviews on Yelp! and TripAdvisor. They both make it sound pretty grim!

I've been to Mimi's, but only here in FL. It is good, but definitely not "value" (at least by my standards). They have a number of dinner size salads which are very good, and quite large. But at over $10 (and I'd assume more expensive in CA), which is pricey for a salad (again, by my standards).

If you think you might go there, it might be worth your while to sign up at their website. I get emails about once a week with some kind of discount offer. Some coupons are better than others, and they usually have pretty narrow time windows (most of their emails come on Thursday and can only be used on Friday or Saturday, for example). But you might get lucky - the current coupon is buy one entree get one free, and is good for over a week!

OK, I'll do that

I will check it out and sign up shortly before we leave. I looked, and their closest restaurant to where I live is about 87 miles away in South Fort Worth. Kinda long drive to just check out a place.
