I've only flown with Delta and Continental - the latter being far superior with monitors on the back of seats etc. Delta had a tiny screen in the middle of the plane! Maybe another Brit has flown with Monarch, but most I know that fly direct go with Virgin! I save a few quid by doing a split flight, but I'd be interested to know what Monarch are like as we're booking separate flights again for next year and it's good to know the options :-)

On checking the site I see that they only fly to Sanford, this is quite a trek to Disney compared from Orlando International!

virgin, the ex travel city direct and monarch, seem to be flooded with "Brits abroad", personally i cant take it, and fly american carriers, f/e you have to stop and make a change but then again ive seen loads of cities accross the US over the years, more than i have fingers and toes. my only advice is avoid the transfer through Houston it sucks. weirdly my next trip is through toronto on air canada, to orlando international and cost me £329 round trip. but in your position i think Monarch is the better of the choice carriers, the only thing your gonna notice is an extra 30/40 mins from disney at sanford rather than international.

This is certainly true. If you fly with american carriers it is indeed a better trip! I've never flown direct, though I have gone through Houston and I really didn't like it! I usually fly via Atlanta or Cincinnati, though I've also been around the houses via Newark, Toronto and Houston on trips to Orlando to see friends and to be honest, very few Brits are on board (and I end up with a dreadful mixed accent which I have just got rid of reappearing again LOL!) Years of not be able to decided where I should call home confuse me!

I did Air Canada to Paris (SJU-YYZ-CDG/CDG-YUL-SJU) and frankly, the service was better than any US based airline, and the majority of EU based airlines.

And I earned miles on it since it was a regular flight and not a charter flight.

Flew with Monarch last year from Gatwick. Flight was ok but had no screens on the seats and the inflight entertainment was hard to see. They also charged you to purchase a set of headphones and then had the cheack to ask you to hand them back at the end of the flight. We quickly baged are and kept them for the return journey. Journey home was very turbulent with many passengers and babies feeling ill.

We have booked again for this sept and have gone with Virgin Atlantic which actually worked out cheaper than Monarch through expedia. Done this due to the girlfriend flying with virgin last year and saying it was very good.
