I have been using both of these airports, each one has its positives and negatives. Im wondering what you think is a good airport to leave from?

Buffalo: Nice small airport, not as much customs,:D but the long drive down there:mad: Less expensive!
Toronto: Lovely airport, short drive, many more restraurants:D Lots of U.S. customs! MORE expensive!

That's a good question. I've done both routes you list, and I agree its a hard choice! Currently, my preference is to go from Buffalo. Southwest and Jet Blue (via JFK), both have lots of flights from there, and pretty good pricing. I think it might be a case of preference changing depending which has the best rates and best availability.

Buffalo all the way... the taxes charged to fly into Canada make it too expensive of a proposition.

I can rent a car, drive it across the border and leave it parked for less money

I miss the days when I would actually drive to Toronto the night before, stay in a hotel, party downtown, and then fly out first thing in the morning. We could leave our car in the Toronto parking lot all week and the whole thing was cheaper than flying out of Buffalo!

Funny thing is...it was only a few years ago!

Now, there are lots of cheap flights to EVERYWHERE from Buffalo and the airport is so easy to get in and out of, there's no question which one to use!

I guess your right, but if I won the lottery "which I will" I would spare the time and just drive from my house to Toronto Airport, its only a 1.5hour drive, and buffalo from our house is almost 3 hours!

...but driving across the bridge you only spend like 30 seconds at customs! Use Buffalo and, depending on what day/time you're crossing, make sure you call the bridge hotline # to make sure you pick the right crossing... you don't want to get stuck with an hour wait when another bridge has 5 mins!

Yes, but its just the long drive there, im not much of a long-distance driver. I always call a limo service and they come pick me and my family up, no driving, 1.5hour drive:animwink: Makes me a happy man!:sohappy:

I'm about halfway between the airports. Even if I was in Toronto though, I'd make the trip to Buffalo. Take away the fact that it's half the price (or better) than Toronto given your "lottery scenario  " I find being able to fly domestic makes it even more worthwhile.

Other than long weekends or rare cases, it hardly takes any time at all to cross the bridge. But the line ups in customs at the airports..whew!

We are flying out of Buffalo. We were going to drive down but the price of the flight in comparison to the price of gas changed our minds. We leave Labour Day weekend so I am a bit worried about crossing the border but we are going to leave nice and early.

I am from Buffalo I am leaving in a few days, I say you should have drived down, its really not as bad as people make it out to be, you can usually make it to Georgia the first drive. Drivings always cheaper than flying.
