Hello! I'm new to these boards and I looked around to see if there was a thread like mine and I couldn't find one! So I am very sorry if this is a repeat, but my question is sort of unique and intricate (:

I'm a college student from Ohio who will hopefully be an entertainment intern at Give Kids the World this summer. This is my ultimate dream and I cannot wait until the day comes when I can wake up and work at my favorite place ever every day! The only problem is that the internship pays very low ($300 stipend from May-August) so I was hoping to cross off another bucket list item by working at WDW! I would intern 20 hours a week at GKTW and I would want to work part time at Disney if possible. I would do ANY job! I just want to be able to afford living in Florida for the summer. I don't have to worry about rent because I will be staying with my aunt (:

My questions are when should I apply if I can start work at the beginning of May? What are some things I can do to stand out in the application process? I'm very interested in life guarding, merchandise, or being a children's hostess at the resorts (: Also, would Disney work around my intern schedule seeing as it is for GKTW and they have a close relationship?

Anywho, I really appreciate you taking the time to read this and thanks in advance to any kind soul who reaches out to help me (: Have a magical day<3

I would apply in April at least. Be aware that you may be asked to come down and go to casting for an interview. And then depending on what they have, you might be on a waiting list. To stand out at Disney, just have a really good resume. Don't put random things on it, just experience and things that will apply to the job you are applying for. Also Disney relies on a set 3 days to schedule you for part time, and training will not be within those 3 days. Training for most positions at Disney are usually a week or more, and they most of the time training is set to a schedule to when trainers are available. You can try to see if they will work on it with you, maybe they can figure something out. Either way give yourself enough free time to do training, especially merchandise since you have to take some classes and then some on the job training. Anyways good luck!

Not to rain on your parade... but Disney does not typically hire short timers with very limited availability.

Disney hires people for PT work and limits how many hours they work, but expect to be able to dictate your schedule for those hours. As soon as you let it known that you have limited availability AND do not expect to be there more than 3 months... they won't take you. It's not worth their investment in training.
