FLE cutbacks - How will $$ be spent?

So the rumor is that FLE is being scaled back, with the possibility of new MK attractions taking the place of what's being cut.

Since TLM and BatB Restaurant must take up a significant portion of the FLE budget, I cannot imagine there being enough money left over after cuts to build any "brand new" attractions (unless extra funds are used). By "brand new" I mean a new attraction constructed from the ground up, with a new building, plumbing, electrical, etc.

More likely, the money saved from scaling back FLE will only be enough to renovate and re-theme an existing attraction building (if even that much).

The four MK attractions that currently do not maximize their capacity are Stitch, Carousel of Progress, Tiki Room, and Tom Sawyer Island.

So let's look at some options:

*Carousel of Progress does not seem like a likely contender, as much as a rehab is needed. I do not see CoP as the reason for justifying cutbacks in the FLE.

* TSI could receive an upgrade similar in scope to the one at Disneyland, but retaining the Frontierland theme, perhaps borrowing elements from the new HKDL Grizzly Peak area (obviously not the ride, but maybe the fountains, upgraded caves, etc) This would fit the rumored mandate of being more boy-centric. But unless some sort of tunnel is dug under the river (an expensive and likely impossible proposal), the raft transportation (and daylight operating hours) will always limit how many people can visit, thereby not making the expense worthwhile.

* To me, it would make the most sense to finally move Stitch from Tomorrowland to the Tiki Room (I groaned at the idea, too, until I saw videos of Tokyo's new show. Very well done, although I think the exterior decorations are odd).

That would free up the old MtM/AE/SGE building for something new. I find it terribly hard to believe that WDI has spent money re-engineering the new Flying Saucers for that technology to only be used in DCA's Carsland. Plus, I think Walt had it right the first time: they do seem like spaceships! I'm unfamiliar with the footprint needed for the new Flying Saucers, but I imagine that they could either fit in each of the two current SGE "theaters", or the theaters area could be combined into one large floor. The existing queue could remain, and be re-themed to Wall-E, or Tron, or even Stitch could stick around! (But I can easily imagine Fred Willard appearing in "B&L" video ads in the first chamber, and Wall-E and Eve animatronics in the second chamber).

Any other thoughts? Not on what you'd WANT. But what you realistically THINK might replace anything cut from FLE.

Nothing. The money cut from the expansion, which was ALREADY planned on the cheap, will not be spent towards anything significant such as a rennovation or refurb.

I heard that Meg Crofton was getting imported marble floors in her office for being cheap with the FLE

I'm not amazed at all. That lady needs to get fired. So do all the other TDO execs. The suckish part is that she renewed her 3 year contract last year so we have to deal with her crap for about 2 more years.

Stop right there. This rumor has been utterly discredited. I fear the rest of your post was a collosal waste of your time.

Carry on.

Lol, wow. I have to say that I agree with that though. While PH is being cut, there will be something in its place. Thanks to Tom Staggs. So everyone wins.

I don't think that's a definite yet...

Not a definite nor confirmed by Disney, but most insiders(Lee) claim that Tom Staggs' concerns are being addressed on the east side of the FLE. So while it IS still a rumor, it's a rumor with a lot of credibility and I personally think it will happen.

I agree it seems likely. But I'm not thanking Tom Staggs for anything yet. So far, the only thing definite is that he has cut the budget. I'll thank him when I see he's done something on the plus side.

I'm hoping for the best and preparing for the worst where FLE is concerned.

Your last statement pretty much defines all the FLE hype. Hope for the best and expect the worst.

Yes, that's right. Although I heard that he had concerns about it being way too girly and there being nothing for boys. Then days later I hear that he got his way on many of his concerns, which in turn makes me believe that the girly issue is being solved.

Put the money in a a bank and let it grow and then use it for Beastly Kingdomme.

My pure speculation is TLM and BatB happen as planned. Dumbo and the M&Gs get scaled down. Toon Town stays and gets spruced up.

My speculation would be...

All the M&G's, lands and mini lands in their entirety will be happening as planned. Now, the east side; PH will not be done, something will replace that. Toontown will be destroyed and Dumbo will take over.

Just never name any part of the expansion Phase 2, because we all know Phase 2 never happens as seen in the past.

Exactly! No budget cuts are occurring. Everything in Phase 1 at least is still proceeding as planned.

And to those of you picking on poor Meg Crofton...LEAVE HER THE HELL ALONE ALREADY!!!

Pixar Place will have a phase 2.

As will the FLE. They are already clearing the land as far as possible without closing any attractions.
