Hello all,

I just started looking into taking a trip to DL in September for the Half marathon. I have been looking online for vacation packages with airfare and hotel together. I'm currently looking at somewhere around $400 - $450 for each of us (3 people) for four days. That's between $1200 - $1300 for the trip.

My question is, can you help us with some suggestions of area hotels near DL, walking distance would be GREAT but shuttle would be fine also. Of course a DL hotel would be the best but it also doubles the cost, ouch! I wish they had an All Stars in CA.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Disneyland.com site usually tells you how far a Good Neighbor hotel is when you are in their booking engine, for example, for the Jolly Roger, underneath the photo, it says "This motor-inn has 58 guest rooms featuring in-room coffee/tea maker, iron and ironing board. Hotel amenities include a heated outdoor swimming pool, gift shop, restaurant and guest laundry.

Distance from the Disneyland® Resort: across the street from Disney's California Adventure® Park"

etc.

We just stayed at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It's right across the street, so you'll walk maybe 10 minutes to get to the entry gates of the parks. You can see the top of Space Mountain from the parking lot. It's got a nice pool and there's a Pizza Hut on the third floor. There's a restaurant called Millie's that is right by the entrance to the parking lot that is open from 6am - Midnight. They have very good food. We were there for 5 nights having gotten two nights free and got the dining plan for four days and it came out to around $2000 total, but without the dining plan, it came out to 1300 and that was with the park tickets included. Out of the hotels we looked at, that was our best deal and since I have a Marriott Rewards card it was a bonus because I got points for the stay. They also gave us a coupon for a free pizza and drinks from the Pizza Hut as well as microwave popcorn and a free movie through the hotel PPV(we watched "The Princess and the Frog" for free).

Also bear in mind, I was booking all of this withing 2 weeks of travel, so if you're booking out as far in advance as you're doing, you'll probably be able to get a better deal than I did.

We've been twice, and we stayed both times at the Desert Palms

It's was a great hotel, and the is short walk to the gates. There's a 7-11 next door incase you need something. The staff was wonderful as well. It has been about 2 years since we've been there. Right now they have a "stay 3 nights and get 20% off" deal.
