We have planned this trip for a while now and just found out about all the rides closed and maybe even the castle? :(
At first we were planing for end of May but we were trying to avoid crowds... it just seems we will be avoiding a lot more than crowds.
Anyone has a clue of what to expect by then? Im seriously hoping the castle will be open...

Everything should still be closed the first week of March, including the castle. The reason why everything is closed right now is because Disney is gearing up for Disneyland 60th anniversary. If you want to see the castle and the other attractions up and running, I would suggest going after the celebration starts on May 22nd. Not only will the rides be open, but new entertainment will be available.

Late May has historically been a very slow time of year. Early March can be busier, depending on when Easter falls on the calendar each year. But late May is lovely crowd-wise and weather-wise.

This famous old chart, taken from the once-popular Steve Birnbaum's Official Guide to Disneyland books that were the bible for anyone visiting Disneyland in the 20th century, still holds true.

Although now in the 2010's, the depths of early December are gone and are more akin to early spring's modest crowds, and summer isn't as consistently busy nor is July 4th the big deal it once was. But the overall trends from the 20th century still hold true in the 2010's, it's just the "off season" is busier than it once was and rarely do you find any ride a walk-on.

Thank you all for the info. I am crossing my fingers and toes that maybe out of luck the castle will be revealed on March 3... Going in may isn't an option now since everything is paid for and ready to go.
Hoping for some pixie dust and magic coming our way to make the trip memorable... :)
