First visit in 18 months

I finally got to fill up my Disneyland Cup with 5 hours at the resort last night. As Goofy would say.....Gwosh I whished I had more time.

I wanted to see the stuff that changed, so I had a mission to do Star Tours, Lincoln (almost finished during my last visit) and Little Mermaid, plus see all the DCA stuff (admittedly running as quickly as I could from ride to ride). If I had the time I would have done more, but.....it was what it was.

DCA has gone through an incredible transformation at night. Even in the rain it was a little hard to believe how wonderful the park looked. Lights, colors, and music were so much ahead of even 18 months ago. The construction is so massive and the details so incredible on the Carsland range and the upcoming Buena Vista street......... Hollywood Studios (Soon "Hollywoodland"?) is under multiple facades and contruction scrims. I mean the changes really took my breath away. I honestly can't wait to see the finished product in 4 months.

My one disappointment in DCA was that the Little Mermaid was quite average. A little surprising considering the money they spent, the quality of the animatronics, and the beauty of the building. We enjoyed it, but it felt like we were going past plastic scenes instead of entering the world. It's almost like the people who designed it didn't really understand dark rides. Not everything can be amazing I know, but it should have been better IMHO. It sort of felt like a Sally Co. Dark ride. Good for anyone else, but average for Disney. I'm hoping that the 250 M Radiator Springs Racers is better in the Dark Ride portion. I'm sure the racing part will be pretty incredible.

Over at DL, the park looked beautiful even on a rainy night. Lincoln exceeded my expectations (Still amazing that any company would spend money on a nostalgic attraction like this) and we had a wonderful JC guide who was completely off script. I really liked him.

Star Tours really blew us away. I mean a complete out of the park killer change that made everything seem new again. It had great new effects (expected), but the humor and sheer fun loaded in that attraction from the wait area to the experience was incredible. I liked the old attraction.....even in it's last years, but the new update.......Well done Disney!

Pirates, recently out of refurb, had effects working that I didn't even know existed. Very cool.

A great 5 hours.
