First Timer - Fastpass help please!

This will be my first time going to Disney and I have a question on the new fastpass+ system. We are staying at AK so I can book fastpasses up to 60 days in advance which I plan to do - but can someone help me with the below questions?

1) There are 5 people in my trip - 2 adults, 1 4yr old, 1 2 year old and a 9 month old. Do we need to book a fastpass for everyone wanting to go on a ride or attraction? So if I will take my 4 year old on the seven drawfs mine train, do both him and I need a fastpass to it?

2) Since I can schedule 3 fastpasses in advance and I read somewhere you cant get more until all are used, would this scenario not be possible - get 2 fastpasses for the morning in HS then 1 at night. If I did this and we were at the park after our first 2 were done, would we not be able to get more until we used that last one at night? I kind of wanted to space the shows out at HS and do 2 in the morning and come back at night but I also don't want to prevent us from doing other things because we can't get another fastpass...

Please help, this is all so new to me! Thanks!!

1. Everyone who wants to ride an attraction using a fastpass needs their own fastpass. This includes meet and greets ~ both parent and child would need their own fastpass.

2. You cannot get additional fastpasses at a kiosk until the times for your initial 3 have expired. So if you save your final fastpass for the evening you will not be able to get another during the afternoon.

Imagine taking your son to the football game, or the cinema - you BOTH need tickets to get in

Don't forget that you can't choose the same ride for FP+ twice in the same day...but I really wish you could!

If you want to schedule two FP+ in the morning, and one for later evening at the same park, you can. Once you've booked, you can always change the times on MDE. But the previous poster is correct, you can't get extras until these are all used up. But if you don't care, it could work well for your schedule.

Also You can use RIDER SWAP since you have little ones , If you have 4 in your family 1 can stay with the younger ones and other 3 can ride get a rider swap pass, when your done the person with the baby and another 2 can ride again. We took advantage of this often. My DH would wait with my daughter for Test track Myself, Dad, and Mom would ride. We would get off and My DH myself and mom would ride. You can use it up to 3 people! Enjoy your trip!

Prioritize one ride for each day. Do not wait for a specific time. Do not wait for the perfect block of rides. Select whatever Disney gives you as long as it includes that one ride. Afterwards, adjust times and rides individually.

Also a little reasearch Of the most popular rides would help in this situation. We found that the same rides like jungle cruise and pirates were typically available after our three passes were used and then there were other rides like Peter Pan a toy story mania that were never available after the first three were used

With three kids that young, you are better off using your three fast passes before lunch. After nap time, you can get the fourth as you enter the park.most of the top fast passes at night would be be for thrill rides gat would not apply to your family. I would guess at magic kingdom, you want to use your three on either a character meet and greet, Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh and dumbo. This way if you start in tomorrow land, you can go buzz, people mover, monsters, speedway and teacups before starting your fast passes. The times could be 10:00-11:00.... 11:00-12:00..... And 12:00-1:00 and in between you can mix in the rest of fantasyland. This way you have half of magic kingdom completed and by hitting the last fast pass at 12:00, you have time for lunch. Ideally ; if you can go to Mk on an early hour day,you could bump everything up by a hour.
