Personally opinion alone (obviously), but I 50% agree with this statement and 50% disagree. I think from a technical standpoint, Disneyland Forever is the much better show... between the incorporation of the projections (including on the buildings on Main Street), the more impressive fireworks, and the other "props", from a visual standpoint, it's a much more impressive show. However, again, personal opinion alone, I think Wishes has a much better "flow" and soundtrack (then again, the "new Renaissance" Disney films [Little Mermaid through about Hercules] have always been my favorite and that's really all Wishes is... I still haven't warmed up to the Pixar characters being in Disney in general... I know it's an inevitability, but yeah...). I feel like Disneyland Forever jumps all over the place with no logical connections between songs/segments... Wishes has that classic flow of "start slow/small, slowly build, get to a "comedic"/light hearted section, decent to a scary/frightening section, end with a triumphant/big/majestic section with lots of crescendos and musical upward modulations" (they do the same thing to an extent in Fantasmic! and World of Color [well, at least the original version of World of Color]). Personally, if they did a Wishes 2.0 where they plussed the fireworks and maybe incorporated projections on Main Street, I'd be totally happy with that...
Oddly, I do really, REALLY like Paint the Night... (even with the excessive amount of Pixar characters)
Now that you point that out, I agree . There's definitely a few transitional things that need to be worked out.
