First time Disney goer

Me and my family are planning on going next year in May too Disney world. This is what we were thinking and I have questions.

Saturday - travel
Sunday - Magic Kingdom
Monday - animal kingdom
Tuesday- epcot
Wednesday - blizzard beach
Thursday - Hollywood studios
Friday - Magic Kingdom again?
Saturday - travel

Does this seem realistic? We will have ultra park hopper tickets or whatever there called. Is it possible to spend a whole day in Epcot and Hollywood without getting bored? We're staying at a hotel with a nice water park as well

If you have the park hopper then there is no reason to worry because you can always jump from one park to another if you get bored. Frankly I would probably consider not doing MK on Friday in May because it is probably going to be more crowded on a Friday than on any other day in May because some school in Florida will have lots of grads going there and it tends to happen more on a Friday than on other days. I think because the park stays open later on Fridays and Saturdays.

You may also want to make adjustments to when you do a particular park based on when you can get dinner reservations at a place you might want to go or based on when you get the Fastpass for the ride you want. Not knowing you or your family no one will know if you would be bored at any of the parks. I can tell you that my daughters are 13 and 16 and we can't spend more than half a day in Hollywood because there isn't that much to do. Even though they are star wars fans it doesn't take that long to see what they want to see and then be ready to do something else. Epcot for families without really young kids can take a whole day if you enjoy doing the different countries, if that type of stuff isn't your thing then its probably a half day park.

I might think that blizzard beach is something you could do in the afternoon on a day you were hitting Hollywood Studios... Either to break up the day or because you get bored with Studios by lunch time. I wouldn't set aside a whole day for Blizzard beach because unless something dramatic happens between now and when you go Blizzard will close at 5:00pm... Has been that was as long as I can remember. So think about what you might want to do after it closes at 5:00pm... Disney Springs is one option especially if you like shopping.

I would swap your Sunday and Monday parks, and swap your Thursday and Friday parks... but who knows, by then, with Toy Story Land open, crowd patterns could be completely different.

I would sign up for touringplans.com. It's really inexpensive and it will give you a crowd calendar. Just in case you haven't heard of it, a crowd calendar is exactly what it sounds like, you pick a day and the calendar will give you a "guessestimate" of how crowded each park will be. It's fairly accurate. So you may find out that you want to switch your parks around based on the crowd.

Now as far as getting bored. i have never been bored at the world BUT if you go expecting thrill ride after thrill ride you will be disappointed. Disney is a sensory overload, part of the attraction is in the scenery, the music, the shows, lol even the gift shops.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that everyone hits MK aat the beginning and end of their trips, so weekends and Fridays may be the busiest.

I found tuesdays to be a decent day for MK, and so I usually work my intinerary to have that day dedicated to MK

Also if you're staying on property, you may be better suited to pushing Animal Kingdom to the end of the week so you have a better opportunity to make fast passes for Flight of Passage. Likewise its good that you Hollywood studios near the end, since both StarWars and Toy Story will be open so you may have better luck securing fastpasses

I don't find the value of those crowd calendars, at least in determining your intinerary. For instance, if you go during April vacation, nearly every day is goining to be in the red. the crowd calendars are the most helpful imo, when trying to narrow down a month and week to make a trip. Yet even so, given that disney is so busy year round now, you're deciding between crushing soul sapping crowds vs. moderately annoying crowds.

We had a similar trip last year but did mk for 3 days instead of Epcot..but we have small kids and mk was worth it more to us. With your park hopper a the sky is the limit!!

I think you need 8 nights including your travel days before you even think about going to a water park. That gives you seven full days of "stuff."

2 days at Magic Kingdom
1.5 days at Epcot
1.5 days at Animal Kingdom
1 day at Hollywood Studios
1 day (or 2 half days) off

The people who say Hollywood Studios is only a half day park are usually people who have been many times and skip several of the shows. If you actually WATCH Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Path of the Jedi, Indiana Jones, Frozen, and Disney Junior, there's more than enough to fill a full day (or two half days).

My daughter (3) has been several times and two days at the Magic Kingdom is more than enough. She'd much rather see different things at all of the other parks than ride the same MK things over and over again. We usually spend 16 hours at the Magic Kingdom in a week and that gets us to absolutely everything. We spread it over four half days to maximize Fastpass.

It will be my mother and father In law who are 50, I'm 24, hubby is 27, and our kids are 8, 6, and 8 months. It's me who's wanted to go for my whole life, I'm termanilly I'll so going next year while we can. And me and hubby love rides, so anything the kids are to small to go on we still want to go on. And of course we will all take turns going on stuff with the kids.

I would say the stress and rushing of cramming in those last few attractions outweighs the enjoyment you'll get from those attractions. Don't worry about not seeing everything, focus on enjoying the time with your family. Figure out the things that are 'must-do' for everyone involved. My older daughter gets excited for attractions when I show her ride videos on YouTube. FastPass those, or do them earlier in the day, so that if you leave a park early, you're missing your lower priority attractions.

I love the photopass we got with our annual pass, and enjoyed the character spots. If there are any particular character meals you want to do, build those into the plan. My kids love Stitch and Rapunzel, so we like Ohana & the Trattoria al Forno breakfast. Don't need these every day, but they can be fun.

I would build afternoon breaks in kids can get really overstimulated in the parks and it’s hot. Are you staying at a Disney Resort?

Also...research research research! Make any must do dining reservations at the 180 mark and FP+ at 60 days for onsite guests and 30 days for off site guests.

Okay. Give this is a once in a lifetime deal that you want to do. Then I might suggest that you and your husband consider paying for one of the special VIP tours on one day, that way you can get some things done without the kids and without having to deal with the fastpasses that can sometimes work and sometimes not work so well. Not sure what tours they will have next years last year they had one that was mostly thrill rides in a couple of the parks, but I don't know if they still have that one or not because they tweak them and will likely tweak what you do in them more with the opening of new rides. They aren't cheap, but if it is only two people it isn't insanely expensive.
