First Step?

What would be the very FIRST step in learning about becoming a character? I would like to be a face character, but I wouldn't mind the fur (since I feel like I've read that you must do both if you are a face character).

I know that you audition and interview, do they offer these any time throughout the year or a certain date? Can I try out for a specific character or do they kinda cast you themselves if they think you CAN be a face character?

if you want to be a character for the college program, then your very first step will be to apply for the program on www.wdwcollegeprogram.com, and then they'll help you from there.
If you hope to go full or part time, look up disney employment online and look for an audition in your area. if they don't have any coming up soon, then you'll have to come down to Orlando for it.
As far as face goes, they'll pull you during the audition if they want to try you in any of the face costumes. Even if they pull you, you'll still be doing a great deal of fur, as that's what you start out in anyways. I know someone who would do an Aladdin shift here and there, but sometimes had a full week of Tigger and then a full week of storm troopers. Scheduling can be kinda random, they'll put you where ever they need you. But once you've been here a little while as full time you'll be eligible to bid for certain shifts, so you could eventually do only face if that's what you're appoved in and you shoot for. My advice is just to go to an audition and give it a shot! no matter what characters you are you'll more than likely have a blast! There's just nothing like being a Disney character!!! it's been the best experience of my life!

Thank you for the info! I am graduating this coming Spring and I want to take a year or 2 off before grad school. If I am looking to start working May/June full/part time, when would be the time for me to audition?
