My wife and I were in the back yard doing a big landscaping project about two weeks ago and we started talking about how a Disney trip would be nice after all our hard work. Fifteen minutes later I took a break to get some water and I snuck inside and got online and booked an AKL Studio Savanah view for four days. I went back outside, told my wife and we got back to work on the yard with big smiles on our faces. We would be in Disney in less than 10 days! The days went by very quickly and before we knew it, it was time to go!
Day 1: We left the house around 5:00 am which would put us in Orlando around noon. We were so excited that neither one of us had slept much but the excitement had us going strong. The drive down went smoothly and we pulled up to Jambo house right on schedule. Everything was going great. We arrived on time, the sun was shining and we couldn't wait to get our vacation started. Then, to our surprise, the security guard could not find our names on his list. After a few minutes he still could not find anything so he told us not to worry and just pull in and handle it at the front desk. After a few worrisome minutes they find it. Apparently when I booked an upcoming June trip with my sister and nephews for Star Wars weekend I accidentally put her name on our res. I didnt even notice it in the email. LOL. So we are back on track and smiling again. Then trouble comes back! The CM goes to the back for a few minutes and when he comes out he says the studio room they had ready for us has flooded. Perfect! He goes to the back again and when he comes out he says they dont have any studios available but will upgrade us to club level for free! We usually stay club level but decided to save a few bucks and skip it this trip since it was only four days, so saving the money and still getting club level was great.
We head up to club level to complete the check in process and they bring us some very tasty mimosa style cocktails while we wait. My wife loved it so much she asked for a second. AKL only has about ten rooms that are actually on club level and they were full so we got a room on the fourth floor savanah view. The CM said the club level rooms dont have as good of a view of the savanah as the room we got. I dont know if thats true or not, but we didnt mind. We took a few moments to admire the hotel before we headed to our room and we were just amazed at how awesome everything was! Our room was great. We loved the decor and it felt very cozy. Then we opened the patio door......WOW! I cant even describe how cool it was. There were two zebras and giraffe grazing just about 50 feet from our balcony. We both grabbed our phones and started snapping pics. We were like little kids, pointing at everything and shouting out what we saw. After a few minutes we calmed down and I put my arm around my wife, took a deep breathe, looked at her and said, "we're home".
