Hello everyone I have been lurking and enjoying WDW Magic forum for sometime I have found the insight and advice here to be the best around thanks .

As you see our last visit was in summer 1993 on our Honeymoon. I was already a fan and had visited WDW several times before 1981,1983 for quite long periods as I had family in Florida . My bride also fell in love with WDW (odd as shes not prone to being sentimental ) so why no visit since, well we have been to Paris Disney a few times (just not the same) when the children were very young this made us certain that we should leave a visit to WDW until they were older as it is important to us both that they see and feel about WDW the way we do .

So the boys are now 12 and 9 they are now both tall enough to ride and hopefully see it the way we do . I was 18 on my first visit and still loved every moment not sure if an 18 year old of today would ? So what should we expect to have changed its clear rides have closed and been replaced etc but is the MAGIC the same as the 80,s and 90,s sure it may be new Magic but will we feel the same as we did or is the WDW of the 21st century lacking what it once had ?

I'm asking because after reading a lot of posts there is a hint of pessimism running though the forum I choose to interpret them as people who love WDW very much but are just focusing too much on the detail . On my first visit in 1981 there were large groups from south america, chipped worn paint, people cut inline, rides broke down ,it rained a lot ,waits in line were very long and hot , the food was poor etc but I loved every moment and did not see any of this at the time as I was just happy to be in the USA and in WDW

Well we have our ADR's for California grill, Narcoossees , and the Flying fish not been to any of them Hope we made the right choice , just the fast pass reservations to do soon and we will try to get lunch reservations at BMG wish us luck . Staying in the Contemporary Resort end of April for the 3rd time, this time in the bay view tower would have been happy with garden wing to be honest .

Any tips for us would be great thanks .

(We got a great deal, free DDP and Park tickets package very pleased )

If you see a negative comment, you need to take it with a grain of salt. What people are complaining about is the way the parks are now compared to how they use to be. If you look hard enough, you will find problems. If you sit back and enjoy everything it has to offer, you are going to have the greatest time ever.

Are there problems? Yes. Will they take away from your trip? Only if you let it.

We love Disney and have been vacationing there since 1991. I sometimes miss those early days when you could just walk on and ride the same attraction 10 times in a row in the off season. However, there is so much more to do and so many more and better attractions, I wouldn't want to go back! You need to plan well, utilize My Disney Experience and do research on which fastpasses to book and what time of day. I love this forum and sometimes scour for tips and info, so this is a good place to be. There are other websites that are useful also. Some even have charts that will tell you which park to go on any particular day. Just google navigating DisneyWorld. Your boys will love Hollywood Studios! We have not eaten at Narcoosees and have reservations at California Grill next time we go, so I can't help you there, but the Flying Fish Cafe exceeded all of our expectations! Enjoy your vacation!

I don't have any tips to offer, other than the typical, "get there early," "use your FP+ allotment wisely," etc. It sounds like you know what to do! Your ADRs are at highly-regarded restaurants and I'm sure you're going to have a terrific time -- keep an eye on these forums, and on published refurb lists and park schedules, so you can tweak plans as needed going forward. That's it -- have fun!

Like others have said, get those ADRs, FP selections and go with the flow. Everyone has their own opinions on dining selections, park situations etc. You will never know until you try it. It's been awhile since you last visited and a lot has changed. Some for good, some for bad...let that be your choice. If you just enjoy yourself neither will ruin the "magic".

Sorry, one more thing. Don't get discouraged if you can't get lunch at Be Our Guest. Keep trying!! I tried everyday for months, then all of a sudden, about 3 weeks before our trip there was an opening. When you get there, look for a table in the West Wing! You won't regret it!

Also, my sister and I went to Disneyland Paris in 2013 and were very disappointed. It seemed like they tried to keep the Disney out of Disneyland! So, if you love Disney you will be very happy to be surrounded by "the magic" 24/7! If you got the free dining plan, I am guessing you are going late summer or early fall as that is the time they usually offer that. That deal is not available yet here in the states for 2015. Please know that that time of year is still hotter than hot in Florida-90+ degrees Fahrenheit. It rains frequently also. Plan accordingly-lots of sunscreen, rain ponchos, frequent breaks out of the sun and lots and lots of water!! You can always ask for a free cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant if you can get past the different taste to Florida tap water.

In my experience the tap water does not taste like "Florida" tap water (unlike at the resort room sink- ick)- the QS counters have fountain soda so they use the filtered water from the soda machine.

Welcome Aboard European (that's about as vague as it gets !!!)

WDW has changed ever so slightly in the 23 years that you've been away - I'd look at it as though you were visiting for the first time. Plan it carefully and enjoy.

As for the negativity - there are contributors on here who expect the place to be perfect, everytime they visit. Its 42 square miles of enjoyment for goodness sake - look carefully and you will find a blown lightbulb or chipped paint - that's life. Its not the reason that you booked to visit so don't scrutinize the place - you're on vacation not a Health & Safety official trying to find a reason to close the place down ;)

I put European in my profile as I have lived near Bordeaux for nearly 20 years now but we are English and I'am pro european union . So I felt saying european was apt a bit like saying I'm a American rather than Californian .

Thanks for all the upbeat reply's our upcoming visit is in danger of getting too important to us we just need to relax and enjoy when we arrive .

I'd chime in with my two pence of opinion: Y'all will have a wonderful time. I would recommend that at minimum you make dining reservations only after reviewing the menus for the types of food y'all enjoy or would like to try and remembering that the food portions will be quite a bit larger than the typical European serving. If you want to invest a bit more time, then you could pursue the task of attempting to synchronize your dining and Fastpast + selections.

I would however caution you to not turn it into a "Disney Death March" and allow time for spontaneity, theres plenty to do and you dont have to account for every minute of every day.

Disney is always changing one way or another and some don't adapt well to it. They are fixed at a point in time
