Hello all! Soooooo, most crowd calendars have the first and second weekend in Dec. Both fairly uncrowded. I want to book soon. So, what do you think? The weekend after thanksgiving weekend or 12 days before christmas?
Both are pretty much equal for crowds. Pop Warner does not affect the parks at all. It mainly affects the value resorts b/c that's where they stay. Other than that we have never seen it more crowded the week they are there in the parks. This year they are there starting on 12/6 give or take a day. We will be there again on 12/5-12/16. It's our favorite time to go by far!! You will love it no matter which week you choose. It does not get crowded again until right before Christmas like 22nd or so. Also it's the one of the cheapest times of the year to go room price wise.![]()
Typically you had to have special tickets to be in on a taping. This is the first year that's not the case so I'm curious to see how it will effect crowds. We're hoping to get over for it so we shall see!One more thing to throw into the mix is the Christmas Parade taping at the MK on Dec 6&7. We will be leaving on the 6th & have never been there on a taping day, but I've read that Main St is extremely crowded, so it's usually suggested to either go to another park on those days (though they say the rest of the park is ok...or maybe the Main St bypass will be open then), OR wait until later in the day to go to MK.
Good luck with your plans, I hope you have a wonderful time!!!
Oh thank God... answered my own question... and to the OP... maybe consider first week of December and not 2nd because:Gabe please tell me Pop Warner is not 12/2-12/7 this year?!?
We personally have never seen or heard much of them if any and we always go while that is going on. Not saying it does not exist at all. We have gone the same weeks for our last 3 trips and parks and queues , restaurants/quick service etc were all pretty quiet. Nothing that stood out or was annoying and my DH is easily annoyed by stuff like that. I was just giving our experience being we always go at that time of year now since 2009 to present. Will be there 12/5-12/16 again and can't wait! The MItey MIghts will be at the Coronado Springs and Caribbean Beach, both of which are Disney Moderate resorts along with Pop. Cheer tend to be actually louder in the parks. I'd, if give the opportunity to pick, I'd pick the week they are not there especially since there are Brazilian tour groups scheduled both of these weeks too. And I so agree, it is a great time to visit, I love early December.

It isn't that they are bad, but it is not always a great experience to be joined in Peco's or Sunshine as groups join you or enter a ride queue with your family let alone all queue up to get FPs. I think there are 60 some football teams and just as many cheer. When making hotel reservations I'd make sure there wasn't any Pop groups at that hotel. Hotel pools and QS restaurants are impacted the most. The spectrum is vast for behavior, some are the most well behaved groups others not so much and this includes the chaperons, some good, some set the tone for ugly behavior.
There are many threads here for Pop Warner times. Here is one:

Yeah I guess we have been lucky to avoid all the annoying groups!! Lol Hopefully it stays that way! That's great! Some guests don't ever have issues with Brazilian Tour Groups either.![]()
I was there from the 7th to the 15th of November last year, during our stay, I think over the first couple days, all the transitions took place within the resort and by the time we left, all but the Christmas tree @ the MK were in place. We love going the first weekend in December. The crowds are down and the weather is great. The Saturday we leave is when they do the taping of the Christmas show in MK. We didn't know this the first time, now that we know we just don't go to MK for our last day as the crowds are heavy. DW and I will be there 11/11-11/15 this year. First time not going in December. We are going to miss all the Christmas atmosphere.
