First Night Dining?

My dad and I are going to WDW in April. We've got basically our whole holiday planned except for the afternoon/evening after we arrive, check in, etc.

So where would you suggest having dinner? We're staying at POFQ, so Downtown Disney is an option, or we could go resort hopping. Either way, it can't be too pricy since we're splurging on CRT at the end of our trip.

I agree with @CAPTAIN HOOK. We arrived late in the afternoon to our resort and visited DTD that evening and enjoyed an excellent evening listening to live music while enjoying a beer before dinner, followed by a great meal while watching the dancers and musicians.

I also support the trip to DTD. Take the boat and then go to either Raglan Road or Wolfgang Puck Cafe for a slow dinner that isn't too expensive and will most likely result in some leftovers that can save so $$ later in the trip.

My husband and I always enjoy going to the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian Resort. The food is very good. Then we take the monorial around Epcot, so pretty at night.

Another vote for the boat to DTD and Raglan Road. I miss that bread pudding. Puck's Express is also excellent. We've also done the Fork and Screen at AMC. Nothing beats some potato skins, a brew and a movie....

Addition: The food trucks are excellent also.

DTD is a great option and the water taxi ride is really great.

That said, if you want to stay closer to "home," head to Boatwrights at POR. It's phenomenal. We almost always make an ADR there for our first night on the resort.

First night for us has become a long time tradition, it's always The Rainforest café followed by Ghirardelli's for desert. Now a lot of people here said Wolfgang Puck's express and I truly agree that is a fine choice too for that first night. The food is really good and tasty and feels like a sit down restaurant

First choice, DTD and dinner at House of Blues or Rainforest/Ghirardelli's as @Dog Ate Mouse said.

Second choice, tour the monorail resorts and dine at Grand Floridian Cafe. Be sure to order the Dessert Sampler.

Splitsville its so under-rated, we have never had a bad meal there. We had our first evening meal our last trip there and it was a really nice start to the trip. the pizza and the loaded fries are awesome!
