The CityPass is great. San Diego Zoo is wonderful, but the Wild Animal Park is also great. I would choose the Zoo though, because Wild Animal Park will pale in comparison to Animal Kingdom. Wild Animal Park was built in the early 1970's and you ride an open-air monorail around the sprawling grounds. The monorail trip takes 60 minutes, you see hundreds of African animals, and the guides are very, very knowledgable. But it's going to seem quaint and a bit boring compared to the hyper-themed 21st century Animal Kingdom.
Or, Sea World in San Diego is always a good time. It is the original Sea World opened in 1964, and its been plussed and maintained beautifully over the last 40+ years. It's right on Mission Bay, and the SkyTower and gondola ride offers great views of San Diego, the harbor, the ocean, La Jolla, the mountains, etc. Honestly, does Anheuser-Busch ever operate a non-beautiful park? San Diego is also one of America's most pleasant and attractive cities. It's a great place to spend the day, and there are wonderful restaurants downtown in the Gas Lamp District. The citizenry of San Diego is just as beautiful as the scenery, everyone looks like they just got back from surfing or playing tennis and they have the "SoCal Cool" look down perfectly. I lived in an East Coast city for a couple years, that shall remain nameless, and the citizens there were some of the ugliest and most unstylish people I've ever seen. I got through it by remembering how great everyone in San Diego looked. It's a fun place to spend a day or two.
Call (714) 781-DINE for reservations for The Blue Bayou (a must!), and to see if any Fantasmic! desert seating is still available. The Fantasmic! seats go on sale 30 days prior, and they always sell out within the first few hours on that 30th day. Good luck!
For Downtown Disney restaurants, I highly recommend Catal. Avoid Tortilla Joes or Naples, I've had consistently poor service there. Granvilles at the Disneyland Hotel is a wonderful steak house, themed to the 1940's with big black and white pictures of Walt Disney dining with 1940's movie stars at the Brown Derby and glamorous places. And of course, there's Napa Rose, the finest restaurant at Disneyland Resort and one of the finest restaurants in the global Disney empire. Napa Rose also has a nice cocktail lounge where you can just get a drink, a glass of wine, or some snacks. They do a cheese course appetizer there in the lounge which is always fun to have. Ask the server to pair a glass of wine for you, and you'll get a crash course in California wines without any of the usual wine snobbery that usually goes with it in other restaurants.
