Has anyone ever done this? What did you think. Do they music on the boats to go along with the fireworks? Thanks

I did the Illuminations cruise and the music was from the park system. It was a great experience. The boat pilot was great fun, lots of storys a few tall tales but he certainly helped make the most of the trip. It was money well spent

Ive booked a wishes cruise this trip, and Id be surprised if i couldnt hear the music.

My father is obsessed with Illuminations. How does one book an Illuminations cruise???

I wouldn't do a Wishes Cruise because I have to be able to see the castle during the show. The last night of my last trip Wishes was the last the thing we saw and I cried the entire time. It is amazing how emotional that builing can make me especially when combined with "When You wish Upon A Star" and fireworks.

Call 1-407-WDW-PLAY

Includes pontoon boat with a personal driver, and various food and beverage options are available. There is a 12 guest maximum. Prices start at $140.84 plus tax. IllumiNations cruises leave port about 30 minutes before IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth is scheduled to begin, and you view IllumiNations from the Epcot International Gateway bridge.

Hope this helps! :sohappy:

I did the Illiminations cruise a few years ago. Really was a very special and unforgetable night. The normal boats were fully booked by the time we got through but there was another much smaller boat, but nicer in my opinion, called Breathless. Think its named after Madonna's character in ________ Tracy. I remember reading a thing and the person said you couldn't hear the music on the Wishes one. Could be wrong though.

Here's my experience booking the cruise.

First, I called in advance when they were opened and closed to hear the different messages.

Open:
"Thank you for calling Walt Disney World Golf and recreation reservations."

Closed:
"THANK YOU FOR CALLING THE WALT DISNEY WORLD MASTER STARTERS OFFICE.
OUR OFFICE IS CLOSED"

OK, I figure, The key word is golf, hear that and you're in. On the morning in question I got up and logged in to the atomic clock website. I started calling when it got within a minute...and...got a completely different message. I immediately hit 3, then 1 (don't waste time listening to the prompts). The next voice almost sounded like a recording, but when she gave her name, I said "8PM Specialty Cruise Yacht Club Marina July 9 for Illuminations"

I really wish I could tell you what the recording said at the beginning, but it was 4AM 'round these parts, and I don't have a very good relationship with 4AM. I seem to recall the phrase "reservation agent", but can't say for sure. As stated, the instant I knew it wasn't what I expected, I sprang into action. My bro was calling from Bama, and he heard the unexpected recording as well.

Finally, I specifically said the Yacht Club because I'd read the agents will check the marina's in alphabetical order, so having them check the YC first can give you an edge. However, while everything was being finalized, she asked which marina I preferred despite my earlier statement. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions on that one. Good Luck; we ended up with TWO boats, so it can be done.

There are also threads on the DIS boards where people arrange sharing a cruise with another party(s) if they don't have a full boat.

Cheers.

I hear the Illuminations cruise is fantastic, but as far as Wishes, I'd opt for a spot down in front of the castle in the park. Music was really difficult to hear, and the view wasn't really all that great. The boat ride itself was nice, you take a little tour before you get your spot to watch the fireworks, but I don't think we'd probably do it again. (Unless they figured out a way to get the music onto the boats)

We did the Wishes Cruise for our anniversary in February and I order the champagne and a banner and balloons. It was definately worth it and was a night to remember. We got lucky and were next to a boat that had the music. It was very romantic. We left from Wilderness Lodge and had a great captain. I would have picked Illuminations first and would have loved to do the Breathless (I love that boat) but it was Valentine's Day and we were lucky to get what we did. Definately a must to do at least once. :)

We did the Wishes Cruise for my son's 3rd birthday in December. Aside from it being like 35 degrees out that night, we loved it. We cruised along side the Electric Water Pageant as it went by Fort Wilderness. A cool perspective to see this from the water. Our captain gave us a very informative tour of the Seven Seas Lagoon prior to the start of Wishes. The pontoon boats drift off the coast of one of the islands in the Seven Seas Lagoon during the fireworks. And yes, you can see the Castle. They have the music playing over a radio and it appeared to be in sync with the fireworks. We came back to the Poly, docked and had birthday cake on the boat. My 3 year old was blown away (not literally). He still thinks the Fireworks were for him....and they were. :D
I would do it again in a second. :sohappy:
