Fireworks at Disneyland

Please correct me here if need be as I have never been to Disneyland or Anaheim for that matter.

From the impression I get, Disneyland is in the middle of a populated area and not isolated like Disneyworld. If they do fireworks on a nightly bases or near nightly bases like at Disneyworld, can you just go near the park and see the fireworks very well? I just wonder because of how awesome it would be to be able to just sit nightly and watch them from outside the park very easily, even though I wonder if it takes away from some of the Disney magic.

The fireworks are visable otside the park. I have family that live a couple of miles from the park and have a good view of the fireworks from their balcony.

Many people go to DTD just to watch it...granted, there is no music but it's still beautiful and free.

Yup! Count me in with others in saying that you can DEFINATELY see them outside the parks. That said though, you can't get the great soundtrack that goes with them though!

That's said I think you would be able to see the fireworks from your house. But I believe the fireworks that Disneyland uses are much smaller and shot lower than at Magic Kingdom. (I've never been to Disneyland so I am basing this on the photo and of videos I have seen.).

They're shot maybe a little lower, but not much. The current show makes more use of castle pyro than Believe did, if that's what you mean. But I certainly wouldn't say the fireworks are smaller. Some of the shells in Imagine are really big.

Example photos: (unfortunately, I don't think I got and good ones of the really big shells)
Believe... There's Magic in the Stars
Disney's Imagine... A Fantasy in the Sky

As for soundtrack, when Believe was around, you could get it outside the park if you got out your CD player and queued the music on the OA up and started it just right. I did that a few times from the parking structure. Unfortunately, since Imagine has never been released, that's no longer possible. :(

Disney and the city have been getting many complaints from neighborhood groups about the fireworks. If I lived near DL I would be thankful for the view and being able to walk tot he park.

Well, some people out there just aren't bright enough to figure out that if they live near Disneyland, there might be fireworks noise. :p But that's another dead horse that's been beaten well into the ground, so I won't ramble about that again.
