Fireworks and parades during the week?

I have been in the process of gathering up info for my trip in 6 weeks, and I read something on either disneyland.com or maybe allears.net that said the fireworks only run during the weekend in October. Can anyone confirm or deny? (I am only going on a Tues, Wed, Thurs).

Also, when do the parades usually run? DL is only open from 10 AM to 8 PM, and DCA is open from 10 AM to 6 pm every day.

Also again, is there a special fireworks show or parade for the after hours Halloween party? And is that at both parks?!

I am full of questions today!

I was there Tues, Wed and Thurs in early June and nooo fireworks. Which was very sad (due to poor planning on my part) because the main reason I wanted to go to DL so badly was their fireworks show.

Bummer! I think I read somewhere a long time ago about the noise ordinance the city of Anaheim has. I am guessing it has something to do with that?

Nope, no fireworks during the week in the off season.

The Parade of Dreams in DL runs at 3:20 and 6:30. The Block Party Bash at DCA runs at 5:15.

There's no fireworks or parade for Halloween quite yet. Maybe in a year or two. But don't let that discourage you! Our decorations are amazing, and there's a lot more in store for this year!! :D

Anymore questions, just ask!

Yes. I live 15 minutes away and I can hear the fireworks when they go off. And when I lived 30 minutes away, I could still hear them.

I am ok with not seeing the fireworks. A bit sad, but ok. ;)

I have already bought my ticket to the Halloween party, and I am excited about going. I love the special touches that are put on everything by Disney!

Thanks for the info, it is good to know as I am start to work on my itinerary for the trip.

Let my get this straight.......fireworks only in peak season yea? What is counted as peak season - are the parades the same? i'm glad i came across this thread - im planning a trip to the west coast and would've just taken it for granted that the two of the main attractions were just the same as WDW  !?

Peak season would be summer and holidays (?). Fireworks go on every night during the summer and holiday vacations. During the slow season, they only go off on Fri-Sun to keep the noise level during the week.

Parades are not the same. They are always going on every day.

WDW's land is huge! It goes on for miles and miles. So the residents cannot hear the fireworks when they go off. DL is surrounded by houses just a mere minutes away. They can most definitely hear them and it bugs most of them. This is also why WDW has bigger fireworks.

mmmm i totally understand the fact that people will be able to hear the fireworks and its not the best thing to have to put up with night in night out - as i said previously i guess i just took it for granted that everything was the same.

Since reading the DL posts i've been amazed how different it is to WDW - i want to visit DL for the experience rather than a substitute for the world - nothing can't beat WDW though im sure about that....shame i'll be comparing it to DL all the time but then again thats life.....we all do it.

I go to Disneyland every fall and spring, during off season, and its true if you want to catch fantasmic or fireworks you have to go on a Fri ,Sat or Sun. It gets pretty packed so pick your spot 1.5 hrs + before it starts. You can also go to Disneyland.com and they it will have event schedules if you go to calender. It will also tell you what rides, resturants ect. ect. are down during that time.

Kirst,

You'll of course be comparing DL to MK the whole time, that's natural. I certainly compared MK to DL the whole time I was there my first few times. At first I *hated* MK. But after all, you start look beyond your own Park and start being able to appreciate each Park distinctly and appreciate the strengths and weaknesses. At this point, there are definitely things I like better and worse about MK compared to Disneyland.

The noise ordinance is part of the reason, but the main reason is that the economics of Disneyland are somewhat different than Walt Disney World. We have never had year-round fireworks and, in fact, we have fireworks now more often than we ever used to. Before Believe in Holiday Magic, our fireworks used to be strictly limited to summers only.

It kinda started Fantasmic! for us and then later with the Believe show. They were so popular Disney started experimenting with any period where the Park was busier. That led to experimenting with all weekends. Now, our fireworks schedule is somewhat dynamic. You can count on Believe in Holiday Magic starting in November through end of year, and of course during the summer. Other than that, it's best to check disneyland.com's operating calendar. If it's not shown there, you shouldn't count on it and then be pleasantly surprised if they are shown (the calendar has not always been right).

I for one am quiet excited to see a different Disney. I have been to WDW 20+ times, and I know it by heart. I am going to be interested if I get myself confused by trying to use my WDW knowledge while there at DL, or to see the subtle differences in the same rides, or compare and contrast the resorts, food, stores, merchandise, etc. I eventually want to be a world traveler and see and do all that the Disney Co has to offer, and I think this is going to be a great start. 34 days and counting.....
