Themeparks.com is reporting a fire happened Thursday on the Disney Magic. I have been on the Disney Cruise before and I think it was the safest vesel I have ever been on. This message is for information purpose only.
I am not sure if anyone was on this cruise and could provide more details.
Ths was the message sent to Themeparks.com staff:
"We had a fire on the aft section of the ship in the stack. Only one set of stacks is real. They were burning trash in the recovery unit and - they think - some of the material went up the stack and had it catch fire. We were evacuated from our rooms for 1 hour from ~4:30 am to ~6:00.
We are fine, and the ship is sailing, as it was not the engine stack that was damaged. The coast guard will meet us as Castaway Cay to perform an investigation. They have closed the Mickey pool till they can clean it up. I don't know if it was damaged by the fire or not. I have not been on deck 8 or nine yet."
And in a later email:
"Coast Guard and the President of the DCL will be at castaway cay tomorrow. They have metal damage on the outside of the superstructure, but have already painted it. Will be interesting. They still say they do not know where the fire started.
They still have a smell in midship."
