This was a minor fire contained to a fryer. All the Disney commercial kitchens with fuel burning appliances have suppression systems designed for kitchen staff to operate in the event something like this. (Even every single EPCOT Festival Kitchen kiosk has one)

Activation of the system would have shut down the fuel source, cut power, applied an extinguishing agent, tripped the fire alarm, and activated the ventilation/exhaust system.

Based on the limited videos it looks like they pulled the fire alarm and evacuated. The fact that no one operated the suppression system is a major safety training fail for Disney. By not utilizing the suppression system they actually may have created more of a safety hazard not only for guests, but also first responders.

I 100% agree. This is literally why fire suppression systems are installed!
