For California Adventure, either get there first thing in the morning to grab fast pass tickets to Radiator Springs Racers (on the left side, by A Bug's Land, which is on the way to Cars Land) or wait until sunset/night and take the single rider line. NEVER standby, or you'll easily blow 1.5 - 2 hours waiting. Single rider is maybe 1/2 hour, and while you likely won't sit next to your girl, there's a good chance you'll be in the same car. Or, maybe better yet, you'll be racing her in the other car. ;)

Skip Soaring if you've done it in Epcot because its identical.

Soaring might be identical, but I like the shorter lines in CA. Have never been able to just walk on at Epcot, but have never waited long at all at CA.

True, and in Sept the wait might not be as bad. DCA's big wait is usually 45-60 min, whereas when I went to WDW/Epcot in January it was avg 75. :O Still, my suggestion is that unless you really want to see how the wait queue differs, its something you can push off until you've done the other stuff first.

I'd grab the fastpasses and go run back there. You're going to want to do it more than once.

And as @kkocka said, do it at night. It's a completely different experience.

And of course, you've got to check out The Indiana Jones Adventure.

I brought up a very similar question in a thread I started a bit ago and I got some great answers from people if you want to check it out.

Tower of Terror is different from WDW, so make sure you hit that one. Also hit Pirates, Space Mountain, Astro Blasters, Small World, and Jungle Cruise as they are either different or better in DL.

There's a really good quick service place in DCA. It's in Pacific Wharf and it's called Cocina Cucumunga. It's Mexican and it's fantastic.

As @StarWarsGirl95 Said there are a few "identical type" rides that a absolutely must do's. Pirates, Space, Small World and Jungle Cruise are all better at DLR in my opinion. Tower I think is better at DHS but it still is fun because it is different.

So please don't skip those because of what you might've done at WDW. It would be a mistake, because the above rides are that good.

Here's a funny video that sums it up in the title "Why Disneyland Trumps The Magic Kingdom"

WARNING: For some bizarre reason, the video starts with a PG-13 image of a Mousketeer that didn't get a call back from Uncle Walt. But the rest of the video is clean and useful.

That about sums it up.... Grand Canyon Diorama. Dinosaurs. Magic Shop. Main Street Cinema. Canoes. Small World. Pirates & Blue Bayou. Buffeteria restaurants with live bands playing on the patios with no 180 day reservation required. The petrified tree. Walt's Carolwood Pacific memorabilia. Storybookland. Small World. Hans & Franz climbing the Matterhorn. Fantasyland dark rides. Etc., etc., etc.

The guy that did this video is Leonard Kinsey. He's building a little Disney empire, mostly in the publishing area. That's the cover from his first book, The Dark Side of Disney. He's also written a "non-Disney Disney" fiction book and published Rolly Crump's recent book. He's sort of the bad boy of the Disney fan community.

Look at the bottom of your Radiator Springs Racers Fastpass... sometimes you can get another Fastpass right away, sometimes you have to wait.
