Film Shooters - Recommended Scanners

Before I head off into the dark realms of photography forums, I was curious if anyone here is shooting film and scanning?

There are really cheap and really expensive scanners out there, which I find extremely annoying. Offering something at 150 bucks then the next model is 750 is annoying.

Sadly scanner prices go by a lot of different variations. My job requires me to sometimes use this massive 30 inch scanner that is so loud that I have to leave the room while its doing its thing. Why is it so loud? Because it was only $2500..the "silent" version of this monster was double that. So basically what I was trying to get at with that short story is that you need to see (and hear) what it does. Some are fast..most aren't. Some are whisper quiet, most aren't. The more fancy it is..the better. Just remember that the scanning software that comes bundled with most scanners are pretty wretched. Usually I opt to scan right inside photoshop or in the cases I use VueScan. What is the max size of scanner you are looking for? are you going to be scanning slides and/or negatives? These are all things that I can use to help you decide on a good model/price range. :)

I'm looking to scan primarily color slides and some b/w negs, all 120 MF film coming in at 6X7.

I'm obviously aware of the advantages of an Imacon scanner but I don't see a realistic way I could justify/afford a dedicated film scanner. The price gap between such tools and flatbeds is unreal.
