i know this is abnormal but I am a high school construction teacher and i want to take a class to Disney on a Field trip. Disney has nothing on the books that is related to construction so I am trying to get intouch with someone there that works in the maintenance/construction department to see if they would be willing to talk to my students if and when we come down. Any suggestions?

Not sure if they do this anymore, but they have it where you can Dine with an Imagineer in Hollywood Studios. However, it isn't a guarantee that they would be someone who specifically deals with construction. You might have a better chance consulting with the Disney travel people directly.

I have been trying and they say the is nothing construction related...I even thought about the keys to the kingdom tour... They are just so secretive I can't even find a name of a person who works in the construction or maintenance department

I believe that is the Disney way, sadly. They even put up lots of foliage to hide their current construction on the new lands.

I don't even want to bother with seeing the "new" stuff... If I could just have someone talk to my students about what it takes as far a electrical, plumbing, carpentry to build and maintain what they have

Disney doesn't do much construction themselves. That work is all contracted out.
I figured that... Buy for instance if I could get someone to talk to my students and say " it take 100k Watts of power to run this attraction. Add here is the panel boxes or this took 2 years to build and it cost $x ... Or even if we could take with someone who builds sets out stuff like that

Yeah I don’t think Disney is going to let a high school go backstage to look at the panel boxes of the attractions.

Well y see the conduit and boxes on the underground tour, they just don't tell about it...I basically want to do the underground tour with a construction minded guide

Have you tried contacting the Disney Youth Programs (most appear focused around STEAM) but they might have something to fit your needs. 877-WD-YOUTH
Good Luck!
We recently had a group take a tour via Disney Youth Programs concentrating on Physics in the Magic Kingdom, and one of the things they saw was the backstage physics of the Haunted Mansion ballroom scene...

Youth Group will be your best bet. I have a Professor that takes his college students down every other year to study the architecture in the parks and at Celebration.

Unfortunately I cannot share his information. If you would like me to pass along any questions, I would be happy to try to get the answers from him

Could I send you an email with my info and you pass it to him and maybe he contact me...I would love to speak person to person on how he is doing his trip because there is nothing on the Disney youth site about construction or architecture... And my supervisor will not let me go any further with this idea of mine unless I have something substantial about construction set up and not just a fun, let's go ride rides trip.

Check with their Imagineering Engineering group. See if they would do a little presentation for your group. They're usually pretty good about maintaining good community relations. Especially when it comes to future customers !!!

Do you know a name of someone in that department... Disney is funny about sending you 2 someone if you don't know their name
