Featurette for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

I just watched a short video on the making of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and it looks awesome. They have employed WETA (the same co that did the LOTR trilogy) to do the special effects. Looks like Disney is trying to make up for passing on LOTR several years back. If this short featurette is any indication of the final outcome they just might do it.

Here is a link to the video

It has been brought up on threads before. While I’ll agree in is not related to the parks it seemed to be a topic of interest on this site.

-actually- I first heard about the film while on the backlot tour at the Disney-MGM studios which is infact a part of WDW..... in that sense, it could be traced back to wdw. :)

anyway, thanks for the link, Yoda... this film looks like it has a lot of potential!

Perhaps Thrawn meant this topic belongs on the Chit Chat thread?

But no harm done, I saw the video via another thread. Nice to see Weta working their magic away from Middle Earth.

Wow, that video was great. Thanks for posting the link!

Although I enjoyed the LOTR books, the movies didn't really do it for me - well, the first one is the only one I've seen so far. Sometime I'll sit and watch all the extended versions on DVD.

But this...has me SO excited. I still have rickety old VHS tapes from the old BBC production of the Chronicles, and I still watch them at least once a year. I'm so pleased that it's getting such lavish treatment - I just hope they remain as faithful to the books as possible, as the BBC/Wonderworks version was. (A slim hope, but a hope nonethless.)

I really hope the movie does well enough to earn a big 'ol E-ticket attraction someday. :D

IMHO the extended verstions are superior to the theatrical releases. But I realise that the fantasy environment is not everyone's cup of tea.

Barnum42 is very correct. The extended versions were much better that the theatrical releases. I am a huge LOTR fan and have read the books several times and the extended versions do much more justice to the books.
