Favorite Place for Character Meals?

Hi! I have been reading the menu's for Cinderella's Table. I see they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, but are they all character meals? If the lunch and dinner are not character meals is there some other attraction? I am just trying to come up with a back up plan in case I can't get a PS for the beakfast. I am also going to try a PS at Chef Mickey's. Anybody have any other favorite places to eat with character's?

Only the breakfast at Cindy's is a character meal. Chef Mickey's is supposed tp be one of the best character meals, although I have not been to it myself yet, so I can't attest to that. I already booked my PS at Chef Mickey's for May. You don't have to wait till 60 days to do that one. Crystal Palace is really nice, but it's Pooh and friends, whereas Cindy's is the princesses. I happen to LOVE Cindy's and have left four days open to try to get that PS. 1900 Park Fare at the GF is another nice character breakfast. They have Mary Poppins, Alice, and some others. I'd try to get that one if Cindy didn't work out. You can always eat lunch or dinner at the castle if you just want to eat at the castle, although they are pricey.

Don't waste your money at Cindy's unless you have little girls who want to see the princess, instead go to Chef Mickeys worth evey cent. crystal palace is good fun ,foods good lots of chances to meet the characters. 1900 Park Fayre is very reserved, my boys werenot teribly impressed Mary Poppns and Alice aren't the most excitinig of characters. My best tip would be the garden grill it seems to be the character meal people forget loads of characters good food and always half full.

A friendly word of warning:

If you want Cinderella's breakfast, be prepared to call as soon as the Dining Reservation lines are open, to do so exactly 60 days in advance of your intended dining day, and then pray.

I called a few weeks back and got thru at 7:01am Eastern and they were sold out. And it was exactly 60 days before our intended dining day.

Fortunately, we were warned numerous times about how hard it is to get in for this breakfast. As a result, our party of 10 had three phones going. Of the three, one and only one got the reservation. The other two, myself included, were told at 7:01 and 7:02 respectively that they were already booked full--not the thing I wanted to hear being half asleep at 4:00am pacific time.

I was bold enough to ask if this instant selling out routine was common and the CM said that it was--that they can be completely booked off of their first calls answered every morning. It's a numbers game--40 operator CMs answering to book only a set number of seatings. Apparently, the restaurant isn't so large.

If you like face characters (meaning ones without a mask who actually talk to the kids) or you have girls who want to meet Disney movie babes, then 1900 Park Faire came highly recommended by the CMs as a nice back-up plan. It's in the Grand Floridian which is right next to MK. The consolation is that it's Alice, Mary Poppins and Mad Hatter.

Also don't forget Breakfastasaurus at AK. They, too, do a Character Breakfast, but there are no characters present at this eatery for lunch or dinner. I also thought that the Polynesian Resort does a Minnie-related character breakfast at Ohanas, but I'm not sure if they are still doing this one after 9/11 cutbacks.

The best kept secret for a character meal is the Garden Grill in The Land at Epcot. A relatively small restaurant, you'll get lots of character time, including Mickey. The food is family style and very good. An in-the-round revolving style restaurant. Go for lunch.

:) Wow! I have a calendar made for our trip, and am busily recording all the suggestions to make the PS's. This is amazing how much time you can spend "creating the magic!" I usually have left vacations open to do things on a whim, but not with Disney. Here's what I am considering:
-Travel days we won't go to parks so will plan character meals at resorts
-Using Birnbaum, passporter and Deb wills' site to figure out which parks have traditionally the low attendance to plan 5 days of park time
-Only 2 nights of our stay have fireworks at MK so trying to work around that
-Plan of attack once in the parks,ex. which rides to go to first vs which to get FP for.

What else should I consider? Have I gone off the deep end? We love thinking about this, (maybe my husband and I need to get out more or something!)

Be aware of parade times if watching them is importabt to you. Consider where you want to be when it comes time to secure a place to watch the MK parade. You can't walk of of dinner 10 minutes before start time and get a front seat for the kids.

Learn the transportation system. Remember buses do not routinely travel between parks or resorts.

Heading for the great escape.
On the subject of Character breakfasts/ meals, last summer I was unable to get Cinderella palace or Crystal palace for anytime during our stay. We were also unable to get to Breakfastsaurus ? at the AK.
The Kids did love 50s Prime Time at MGM, and Liberty Tree Tavern was a reasonable meal booked on the day.
Only complaint is too many appearances by the same characters in the various resturants.

My personal favorite is Chef Mickey's. We go there everytime we go down. This time, we are eating dinner there on Easter. I still remember when it was in downtown disney. It's got all the main characters, and the food is good for both young and old. I love the chicken fingers. Thats usually all I eat. hehehe. We did the breakfast last time, and it was great, but the Boma at AKL if the best breakfast that has no character, but usually no wait.

That's our favourite! We always seem to manage to get a great table over lookong Seven Seas Lagoon. Wonderful :)

I'm going to have to go with the under-rated Garden Grille. It has great food (ribs for dinner and I forget the lunch right now) that is pretty "down home" so most kids are used to it and have no problem eating it. Plus it's relativly empty most of the day so you get to see the characters multiple times. We went shortly after 9-11 and it was so empty that we saw Mickey, Pluto, Chip, Dale like 3 times each! We loved it, they were so friendly and played games with us and took multiple pictures. We never miss eating there:D

Thanks for all the good advice. I have PS's for Breakfastosaurus, Chef Mickey's and (A drum roll please) Cinderella's royal table for breakfast! It took 4 phone lines iover two days but my father got through. sohappy: Now I want to add an O'hana's breakfast and a Garden Grille lunch. After that it will be cold cereal in the room and chicken fingers from Captain Hooks! Unless of course someone has another idea we just have to try...:

As with many things, everyone has an opinion. In our 65 trips to Disneyworld, we've enjoyed Character Breakfasts at many locations...some now defunct...some still going strong.

We tend to favor the Character Breakfast at the Polynesian. It's spacious, always comfortable temperature-wise, a short hop to the Magic Kingdom and usually not too difficult to get into. The view is almost always pleasant and the spaciousness is very helpful in picturetaking and the "parade" around the restaurant by the "small fry."

My daughter (now 19), enjoys it as much now than when she was small. We have some GREAT closeup photos with her and each of the characters which we've taken over the years. The abundance of natural lighting also helps with the picturetaking.
