I haven't been to either one of these (they're not in my area).
Is it o.k. to vote for a favorite, based upon the posted menus, or do you just want responses from people who have actually eaten at both restaurants?

O.k. I guess my vote will go in the "unofficial" vote category, since I've never eaten at either establishment.
However, voting with my eyes only, (based on reading the two menus), I'd say Sonic, hands down, wins. Two reasons: the hot dog selections look great, and the shakes look very appealing. (Their burgers also looked a lot better than Checkers.)

Yeah, there are a few, but the ones on Buford Hwy and PIB (close to me) closed down a while ago.
Sonic was awesome in the mid 90s, but the past few times I've been there has been middling to passing.
I'd rather have Steak and Shake, thank you very much!
Their combo drinks are pretty good too, especially the ones with the nerds candies in them.

They have an ocean something or other that is my go to. A big cup of bluish looking not quite sprite. It's pretty good. And, Sonic has the best fast food ice out there (the crushed kind).

Based on only the menu, I would still go with neither. More of a personal thing though; I rarely eat fast food outside of WDW and baseball games (well, fried fast food; Subway, Panera, and Chipotle are all good on occasion). If I really want the stuff that's bad for me, I want a Whopper.

Not that fond of either one. Been once to each, nothing made me say... hey, let's go again.
BTW, in my opinion the new Sonic commercials have stopped being funny and have just ventured into ridiculous land.

Sonic I guess, but I've never felt like either one has a particular edge in food than the other.
I really like their Chicago dog, and if you don't let them get soggy in the bag they have very good tater tots.
One thing that's really fun about Sonic is that while the menu board doesn't advertise it, they can make a slush from any of the soft drink syrups.
Try asking for a vanilla Dr. Pepper slush sometime, or even a chocolate Dr. Pepper slush.
