Fastpass

Is it possible to book FastPass with park tickets purchased through Expedia? I understand it is because they give you a confirmation code that can be linked on Disney's site, but has anyone experienced it?

I just wonder how the whole Magic Band process works if they are tickets purchased from outside.

I need to go this route bc I need to be able to cancel the trip ~7 days before I go if some things happen that I'm not sure about yet.

Disney's trip insurance only covers certain things, this not being one of them. Expedia has "any reason" cancellation including activities (tickets) purchased.

Obviously, I want to be able to plan as if I'm going w/ FastPasses, etc but still may need to cancel.

Or is there an easier way I haven't thought about?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
As long as you add the tickets purchased to your MDE account (by the number on the back of the cards) you can make Fastpass selections like normal. 60 days prior if staying onsite and 30 days prior if staying offsite. :)

You don't even need to have the tickets in your possession. We booked our last trip through a travel agent and by inputting their booking confirmation number into our MDE everything was there - hotel and of course, tickets ready and waiting for the 60 day mark for FP

Beat me to it, we did it this way also :) Very convenient.

Any route I can go to cancel my entire vacation (tickets included) if I need to? Disneyworld.com seems to have very limited cancellation options and tickets specifically say non-refundable. I have been so many times, but I've never been in a "maybe cancel" mode and want to know the best route.

So I guess that's my question. What is my best route if I may need to cancel last minute but want to plan everything including fast pass?

Depends on a couple of factors really..

If you book 'hotel only' through Disneyworld.com then you can cancel the hotel reservation and get a full refund, however you must cancel 6 days or more before your arrival date or you will be charged a $200 cancellation fee.

If you book a hotel and flight package from Disneyworld.com then you must cancel 30 days or more prior to arrival or face the $200 cancellation fee. If you booked the flight seperately then you will have to contact the airline.

Tickets from Disney (and Expedia) are non refundable so you'd be stuck with those (and therefore you will still have your FP+ reservations which can be edited or deleted at any time through the MDE app). I guess you can always sell the unused tickets on to gegt your money back but I believe registering them to MDE to get the FPs 'activates' them so then you wouldn't be able to sell them as they will be linked to your account.

If some kind of emergency happens and you have to cancel and are left out of pocket, then your travel insurance may be able to cover it.

I've looked around and most websites say that tickets are non refundable so you'll be out of luck, however there is one way, Disney has a 'Hurricane Policy' and if a hurricane is forecast near your arrival date, you can ask Disney to move your trip or refund you in full. The chances of this happening are pretty low though.

Hopefully that answers any questions you have.
