Fastpass

I was there in April 2000 (Easter week) and felt that I was in a fight for my life to get to the Fastpass kiosk. But it was nice to be able to go back to the ride and pretty much get right on.

I really haven't used it, but I was there at the beginning of the concept. I don't know if this is still happening, but people were having a HARD TIME understanding exactly what was that for. And it's not that much of a brain-twister!!
Anyways, I remember going to Space Mountain, and the regular line I was in was moving a lot faster than the Fastpass one. But I love the concept, and I think it was a Disney hit.

FastPass may not be THE best solution, but anything that saves time of standing in line, I am for. We use it a lot and have not had any real problems with it.

I remember when Fast Pass first started I hated the idea. I was of the mind that if you come to the park, you need to stand in line like everyone else. Now thats its been there a while, and it has been established, I think it's a good thing because a resultant product of it in fact... SHORTER LINES IN STAND-BY!!!:sohappy: I now rarely use Fast Pass, though (I prefer single rider). I think it's a great concept, but you miss out on meeting people in line, which is really half the fun of theme parks (or maybe that's just me).

Good: Keeps you from standing in line. Short waits. Don't have to hear the kids getting upset becasue they are tired of waiting. Don't have to listen to the entire teenage population of Brazil sing and dance because they are bored or happy, whatever they are.

Bad: You can only get one at a time!!!!! They sometimes "run out" of them for a ride. You get a ride time for 8 PM and it's only 3 PM and you can't ride another FP Attraction unless you wait in line.

Ugly: Leaving your ticket in the machine!!!
I turned in several tickets to the cast members that were left in the FP machines.

HINT: They say you can not get another FP until your time expires. But what they don't tell you is that once the FIRST listed time has passed you can get another.

For Example: Your Buzz Lightyear FP says 2:30 - 3:30.... you could get a FP for Space Mountain after 2:30, but before 3:30 and then go on your first FP ride. Make sense? At least that is the way it was explained to me by a CM, of course it was our last day and I didn't try it out.

Someone see if it'll work okay. :sohappy:

cbjlshaw, you don't know how right you are! I mean, I'm Brazilian, I was a teenager in one of those groups, and I still don't get it why they scream so much. Maybe it's because they figure lots of people won't understand what they are saying... Go figure.:veryconfu

actually, if your fastpass is for more than like two hours away, you can get another fastpass immediately. As for Fastpasses selling out...that HAS to happen. It's how the system works--a small amount of tickets are given out so that the Fastpass line moves quickly. If they gave out more tickets, the Fastpass line would turn into the old normal line and the stand-by line would stop. I think Fastpass is a godsend...I certainly get on more rides now. Perfect example: you walk down Sunset Boulevard. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster has a 50 minute wait and a fastpass for two hours away. Tower of Terror has a 45 minute wait and a Fastpass for an hour away. If it weren't for fastpass, you would wait about an hour and forty-five minutes to experience both attractions (I am including ride times). With fastpass, you can grab a fastpass for Tower of Terror, wait in stand-by for Rock 'n' Roller, quickly hop over to the Tower, and have experience both attractions in about one hour and ten minutes. That's 35 minutes disney has bought for you, and in that time you could go get a Fastpass for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire-PLAY IT! and ride Great Movie Ride while you wait! You just have to know how to use the system to your advantage.

I agree with Haunted Mansion...and The Land. But, there is a reason why Haunted Mansion got it...so you don't wanna wait in line, get a Fastpass...grab a bite to eat...buy some merchandise...ya know...SPEND MONEY! Same thing for Livin' with the Land! Notice that big food court that people used to ignore...NOW IT'S PACKED! Mission: successful! I wonder if the Space Pavillion will have an eatery...most of Future World East's pavillions lack eateries (Wonders of Life has the snack place..) and they could do something very kewl with the space theme...

I hope that no one took me wrong about the Brazilian teenagers, I mean in February when I was there, there were tons of American cheerleaders walking around and doing cheers and chants. The point was that you didn't have to stand in line for an hour listening to it. 10 minutes is okay, but that can even be pushing it, know what I mean?

its one the good things disney has done. we had a bunch of family come with use to WDW for 3 days. we would get fastpass alot when not everyone was riding. it saved us so much time.

At first I thought it was dumb, but now I like it, I can get a Fastpass for Buzz, and while I wait, I can ride TTA. It works out great!

Universal did copy it, but they also "improved" on it. If I understand the promotional video I received, anyone staying at a On-Site Universal hotel has "head of line" privilages. They don't even need the "fast pass", they go to the head of the line, no special pass but their room key. Talk about a perk. For a family like mine, 5 people, that would mean a big ncrease in my vacation budget. We usually stay off property. Off course Disney would increase their hotel bookings.

I do like that idea. Maybe Disney should include it. But if you stay on disney property in one of their resorts you already get in an hour ahead of the rest of the crowds. (at least they did that last couple years)

It is a good idea, but what about the big families that can't afford to stay in a disney hotel. They should have the same oppurtunities as the rest of the folks once they are in the park

Unfortunately, Disney would never be able to offer a front of the line program that Universal does. Universal only operates two hotels, soon to be three. Disney operates over 18 different hotels. If they offered front of the line access to their guests, the wait times would be unbearable for everyone else. I can already forsee that in the future as Universal expands and builds more hotels that they will do away with their front of the line program for their guests as well. It gets to a point where it isn't economical or feasable.

it's not fair at Universal. It's the same garbage Six Flags uses--pay to cut in line. I much prefer everyone having the same chance to get a Fastpass...it's garbage that you can PAY to get to the front of lines...
