FastPass+ Time Disappointment

Sooooo.....I never thought I would ever utter/type these words - I'm very upset with Disney

When I booked fastpasses for my trip this past November, the time you could start was midnight. I was on the phone with Disney today for our upcoming trip and confirmed that the fastpass time was still midnight and I was assured it was. So here I am at 12:26 (sick and altered the times of my medicine because it makes me drowsy and I HAD to stay up until midnight) WITH NO FASTPASSES!!! Apparently Disney has changed their policy that you cannot make them until 7am? I'm on this site daily and haven't seen anything about this? Plus, a Disney rep confirmed earlier TODAY on the phone that it was indeed midnight? Did I totally miss something??

You have it correct, they will open tomorrow morning. I am really sorry :(

Disney hasn't been very good at being clear with information about FP+ at all, right from the beginning.

When I spoke with a CM about this, he said that Disney acknowledges that they cannot please everyone with any time they choose for this. People on the Eastern seaboard loved midnight and can't stand waiting until 7am. But - others elsewhere in the world hated whatever time that was for them. He said no time is perfect. It will always be inconvenient for someone somewhere.

The change was not well-publicized, and unfortunately, CMs on the Disney phone lines are notoriously ill-informed. (On the bright side, although it was inconvenient, at least you found out about the change before the window to make your FP+ actually opened, and not after...)

I can't POSSIBLY imagine 7am works better for people on the west coast than Midnight did. East coast you had to stay up a bit late, til 12. West coast it was 9pm. Now its 7am EST, so east coasters have to get up early ... West coasters ... its 4 AM .... FOUR AM !!! :) That's insane. While 12am vs 7am doesn't make much of a difference to ME on the east, 9pm vs 4am would make a huge difference to me if I was on the west ...

Unfortunately no time is going to be convenient for everyone. Imagine the people overseas who have to try and make FPs that fall during their commute into or away from the office.

It's a bummer either way and someone in some timezone is going to get the short end of the stick.

I say allow us to make FPs once we book our hotel stay, because I could have booked my FPs for our March trip two weeks ago.

Here's the thing. No matter what time you pick, it is going to work for some and suck for others. Such is the nature of timezones. I would think that they would be trying to hit the East coast, the middle US, and Western Europe as I would think those would be the majority of WDW travelers with the majority of West coast going to DL. I am just guessing here, I have no evidence, just my thoughts.

I know. I just wrote what the CM told me. I had called to double check the time change the day before I had to choose my FP+ for my upcoming trip.

It's not so much complaining that it's inconvenient as it was wrong information given. I'm a teacher so I'm off in the summer therefore staying up late/getting up early isn't a huge deal for me luckily. It was just crappy staying up so late and then having to get up early.

I know. I teach, too. I plan the trips around the ADR and FP+ days - I make sure both are on the weekend since I can't set them up during the week. My classes begin at 7:20am.

It wasn't strict midnight, it was midnight IF all of the parks had closed BEFORE midnight. If any of the parks were open past midnight, the FP+ window wouldn't open until later, possibly 1am or 2am etc. With it being 7am now, there isn't an issue like that.

No it changed to always 12am eastern a few years ago. But at first the first year or so it was after the last park closed back when FP+ first rolled out, but it did along the way change to strictly 12am eastern. This was another thing not widely announced either and we had to figure out at some point that they tweaked to avoid the issues you described. ;)

As an eastcoaster, midnight was really inconvenient. Unless it is a weekend I pretty much will have been in bed for several hours by then. I am pretty much always awake at 7am however. That makes the new system system much more convenient. I the past I just waited til morning and made the best of what was there.

That said, no time will please all people in a given time zone let alone across multiple ones.

I get all the " no time will please everyone" totally get that, but come on people. They went from 12 and 9pm to 7am and 4am ... FOUR AM. Really. Forget about internationals, they can't be a real consideration because then there really is no time that works, because at any time its any time somewhere. Are you seriously going to tell me that 7am and 4am is going to work for more people than midnight and 9pm? Heck they could have made it 10pm and 7pm. Vast majority of people on the east cost are still awake, vast majority of people on the west coast are home from work. 7am, and 4am, was a terrible move.
