FastPass+ and Ticket upgrades

I was on the phone with Reservations and Tickets yesterday and they told me that if I upgraded my 5-day ticket to a 6-day ticket (which I already knew I had to do on site at guest relations) that I would lose all of my FastPass+ reservations because they are tied to the ticket. That seems contradictory to some of the threads I have read here which seem to indicate they are linked to MDE. This makes more sense but it's hard to trust over the word from a DIsney Cast Member at Reservations. Can anyone confirm or dispute this?

I'm curious about this as well. I should have asked when I was on the phone today regarding my non expiring tickets.
