Just curious since I've not been over to WDW in about 1 1/2 months if they ever changed the fastpass system. Screamscapes rumors said in November it would be running by the end of the year, just curious if it is, and what changed.

Changes

I heard that they would be changing it so that you could have more than one pass at a time, and some other minor details.

Can anyone confirm this or does anyone know when the "changes" will take place?

I havent heard anything, but it would make sense that with all the rides that have it now (and so many more planned) they should allow you to have more than one at a time, cuz soon enough you will only be able to do very little with fastpasses if you can only have one at a time.

the only update I'm aware of is now that you can get a new fast pass half way through your window. Meaning if you have one fo 1:30-2:30 you can get a new one at 2:00 instead of 2:30

that would be a downgrade really, you used to be able to get a new fastpass at the begining of your window and not the end. Not sure if thats new that the delayed you 30 minutes or if you just didnt know to try at the begining before.

FastPass Upgrade Cost

Current estimations (and don't ask me where I got them from) for the 2.0 FastPass upgrades run in excess of 15 million dollars for support equipment, installation and configuraiton.

I haven't seen any purchase orders, so don't look for it anytime soon.

That is so unlike disney. Taking money in to consideration over providing their guests services they want. I'm sure they will have it installed in the next day or 2, and maybe even throw some diamonds around it to make the booths more attractive.

Mission: Space will debut the next version of Fastpass. The new version involves a computer that determines what the ride's current capacity is (if people w/ wheelchairs try to get on, it obviously temporarily drops the capacity) and determines how many fastpasses to give out during each five minute interval. The purpose is to make it so fastpass lines are shorter. Mission: Space will be the first disney attraction designed for Fastpass, which, to me, means it will have two completely different queues. If Primeval Whirl is popular, it would also be prime for the second version of Fastpass, as they could have one coaster entirely set aside for Fastpass, and have the new version figure out its capacity at any moment.

Here's my 2 cents on FastPass. I think they should have a Fast Pass Center at the entrance or at the place you check on the times for the rides and issue a FastPass for any one ride you choose to go on. This would make it easier and people to do need to walk all around the park just to get a FastPass.

Fastpass is a-ok in my book. If you think it about it, let's stop complaining about having more that one. A couple of years ago, you had to wait for every ride instead of making your ride time doubled by having to wait for one and walk right on to another. I would like it if there was a new Fastpass, but I'm not gonna start complaining about this one.

With the current fast pass system you can get a new one as soon as the first time on your ticket has passed or after two hours after you got the first ticket even if your time has not come up for the one you are holding. So you can be in possession of two tickets at one time. I did it quite often during our trip in December, due to the number of visitors to the parks between Christmas and New Years it was not uncommon to get a ticket for say Space Mountain at 11:00 am with a return time from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, therefore we would go elsewhere in the park and at 1:00 get a fast pass for Big Thunder Mountian for return time between 6:00 - 7:00. (The Magic Kingdom stayed open until 11:00 every night we were there.) You just have to pace yourself and keep an eye on your watch. Of course, we have been to Disney World about 30 times, so we could get around the park blind folded.

We love Disney!!:sohappy:

So did I. But also remember how "uncomplicated" the system is right now. A Cast Member by the Fast Pass machinies told me that the Fast Pass System's main computer for the MK is only a 800 Mhz PC running a special script program to work with the FP machines. lol. But hey, it works!
