At the Mouse House, everything's a job for Jobs

Re: Maximizing shareholder value

We're doing pretty well on theme parks and movies, but we need to do more in consumer electronics. Take a cue from the iPod and the Xbox and see if you can't make a deal to put Pixar content on some co-branded hardware without giving away the store.

I'm on it.

Re: Opportunity for Apple

We at Disney are prepared to offer you an exclusive arrangement to share in future royalties for Disney Pixar games and movies on an Apple hardware platform. Can we talk about it?

Re: Opportunity for Apple

I don't see how a royalty-sharing deal is good for Apple or its shareholders without an up-front investment by Disney.

Re: Hardware proposal

Steve, Apple is demanding more than we wanted to offer. Are we willing to go higher?

Re: Corporate image

Folks, it has come to my attention that our business is represented publicly by a rodent. We are phasing it out, although you may continue to use existing stocks of stationery. We have assembled a creative team to develop a new corporate symbol. In the meantime, I will act as the company's public spokesman. As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to tender your resignation.

Very humorous and creative posts, but I don't know if it'll be quite like that. I do believe that Jobs is no longer the president of Pixar Animation under Disney. Ed Catmull will instead lead both Pixar and Disney feature animation studios. What Jobs has is a seat on the exec board, most shares in the Company (not majority), and is 7.4 billion dollars richer (I'm not sure if that all went to him or if that's included in his stock shares or what).

Anyway, the whole reason this has happened is that Iger realizes that Disney's bread and butter is animation. If Disney feature animation fails, than Disney fails. It may find revenue elsewhere, but in terms of total success and living up to its legacy, it fails. Iger realizes this and is doing what HE thinks is necessary to get Disney back in the forefront. Is there a way that would have been more effective and efficient?

The greatest thing about the Walt Disney Company is its timeless legacy in animated classics. I really hope that this merger revives that legacy rather than overshadows it.
