Fast passes/magic bands

I want to go to DW with my wife in late Nov/early Dec during low crowd times...

I already have my Disney tickets I bought 2-3-4 years ago (we never used them but they never expire, if I'm correct)

I want to know if I need to buy magic bands? and how to optimize our time at the parks. It's been 3-4 years since we've been and a lot has changed as far as fast passes go... so I'm worried the popular trick of getting a fast pass every opportunity and waiting until end of day to ride will not be possible with the new magic bands... I'd love to learn more on how to optimize our time around the parks.

As for the tickets I think we would need more information. Did you use any of the days? If so did you pay for the non expiring option? Did you buy them and never use a day? If you never used them or used a couple of days with the non expiring option than you are correct, they should still be good. Currently all tickets expire 14 days after the first day of use.

As for the FP+, I think what you are referring to is back 3-4 years ago when you would get the hard ticket FP and they would let you ride with the FP any time during that day. If this is what you are referring to than no you can no longer do this. 6 months to 12 months before the Magic Band rollout they started watching the times and holding you to them. Then with the MB roll out they require you to be with in the FP time window.

I would recommend creating a My Disney Experience account and linking your tickets as soon as possible. Once you do that plan out your days and see what popular rides still have FP left and go from there as you are already well past the 60 day window for selection. With the new system you can select 3 FP per day with the option to select a 4th once the first 3 are done.

If you didn't get the no expectation option then the tickets are no good. If you did get no expiration... Go to MDE and enter the code on the back of ticket with your profile to the right person. If u want a magic band you have to purchase that separately if your not tatting on property. The. You have to go online and link the magic band to your tickets

This is only true if they used the tickets partially. If the tickets are completely unused, they are still valid.

We never used the tickets. They never expire unless used and then expire after X days. So I'm good there...

We went to Disney Land in 2014 and they still had fast passed spit out from the machines and we could collect them all day and use them toward end of the day... This was January of 2014.

For Disney World we have to do everything online in order to maximize our experience? Seriously just 3 FP a day?? what the heck?

Is it possible to ride all rides in one day anymore at MK? Seems impossible now...

Just remember that everyone is in the same boat as you are with only being able to make 3 FP+ choices beforehand...
After you've used your first three, you can then visit an in-park kiosk and select another. After you use that, you can get another, etc...

One other item about your tickets... Look on the back of them and see if there's the MyMagic+ symbol somewhere on it, which is a small Mickey head inside a circle. If it's there, you can use the ticket as-is at the new readers at the park entrance and FP+ entrances. (The icon indicates that the ticket media contains an RFID chip) But if it doesn't have the symbol, you'll need to stop by a Guest Relations window to have them swap them out for new cards with an RFID chip inside to use at the touchpoints.
