We could hear it in Mount Laurel. I heard "ba-doom, ba-doom, ba-doom . . ." about 7 this morning. I told my wife it was probably the stadium, and I turned on the TV just in time to watch the tail end.

Can we have football season now? I can't wait till Fall! Hmph! Did anyone catch T.O. on the Tracy Morgan show the other night?

Tracy: You were clutching that ball in the endzone and you were crying...

Terrell: I wasn't crying!

Tracy: Yeah, you were!

Terrell:... Yeah, I was.

TWO new stadiums. Lincoln Financial Field opened last year for the Eagles and the Phillies will now play in Citizens Bank Park starting April 12th.

Sadly, it wasnt named 'Ritchie Ashburn Field' or 'Tug McGraw Field'

I agree! I'm sure the names of the stadiums will change in time....like the First Union er, um, Wacovia Center. I hate that!!!!!

Well, it's time to say goodbye to an old friend.
I was able to see 3 Phillies baseball games in the Vet. First: September 2001, Phillies vs. Marlins. Second, July 2002, Phillies vs. Mets. Third, August 2003, Phillies vs. Padres. Oddly enough, the Phillies and Padres are both getting new ballparks at the start of the 2004 season. Also, to fully remember the Vet, I have 2 seats from Veterans Stadium in my backyard. In the immortal words of the great Bob Hope, "Thanks for the memories....."

Yes, they have to. There is no where to park anymore! With the new Phillies and Eagles stadiums.........parking is limited. Both new stadiums were built in old parking lot areas, so now they need to create a new one. It is sad though. They will paint on the asphalt where the bases were, etc. for memories.

The more I watch Vet memories and implosion pictures on tv, the sadder I get!!!!!!

Field of Memories

It looks completely different down on Broad n Pattison now. even though the Vet is outta here, i can still c it 4 sum reason. i grew up in that place, spending summers there. lotta great memories n sum bad, but that place is irreplaceable. i was fortunate enough to start working there last year and saw many faces of the vet that the public never saw. the vet will hold a special place in my heart. Veterans Stadium 1971-2004 may you rest in peace.

And all you doubters n nay sayers.......we got the best ballpark in the world plus the best team in the national league. its gonna be an exciting year because that liberty bell in right centers gonna b ringin an awful lot this year!

Favorite Inperson Vet Memory: its a toss up between kevin millwood's no hitter and kim batiste's game winning hit in game 1 of the 1993 nlcs.

I think the Vet was like Riverfront Stadium in Cincy, Busch Stadium in St. Louis, 3-Rivers in Pittsburgh, and even Fulton County in Atlanta. I think the only one left is Busch Staduim and it has overgone a transformation and a name change (I think)

Oh well, I like the look of the 'Retro' Parks. Cincy's new park (Great American Ballpark - best name in MLB) is pretty nice but talking to people who have been to other parks, it is not as good as some of the recent new additions. Here's hoping Griffey will have a healthy year.

Wow! Those are some great Inperson Vet Memories!
My favorite inperson Vet memory was seeing Terry Mulholland pitch a no hitter! I missed Millwood's.
But those 93 playoff games were the best!!!!

I agree.......we do have the best team in the NL this year! No doubt! And now Bell will be ready to start 3rd base! YAY!!!!!!!
